Oceans 12 - wave of public opinion

originalsnob by originalsnobOG 2004 · Nov 23, 2004 · 163 views · ·

Not sure what the stats we for the original, Ocean's 11 but the sequel hits theaters the 10th!
Personally I thought Ocean's 11 totally delivered. Usually I lower my expectations for sequels, but, in this particular instance mostly due to the awesome cast I'm very optimistic.

The entire original cast returns for Ocean's 12 plus, Catherine Zeta-Jones and a few uncredited apperances by the likes of Bruce Willis and Peter Fonda.
There's a great chemistry between the actors which projects on-screen.

Some of the smaller yet memorable characters were portrayed by Casey Affleck, Bernie Mac, and Don Cheadle, all of which will also be returning for 12.
So Ocean's Twelve hits theaters December 10th worth and event? See it or skip it?

I fell asleep in the theater.

The three of us who went also fell asleep. It was not a good movie at all.

Yesh. Although I was feeling like garbage that night, so maybe the induced sleep was my physical state and not the movie itself. I'll have to rent it when it goes to DVD and see.

Gotta say.. I totally loved this!

My little sister and I were the only ones in the theater laughing hysterically the entire time. It was so great though! I'll agree with 5-0, can't compare to the first one. They're not similar except for the characters and all. Totally noticed the camera angles, liked that. I just loved all the character interaction! Brad Pitt and Matt Daimon are so awesome in this, and I'm not usually the biggest fan of either of those men. The plot was all twisted but that just made it more enjoyable.

BP: It's 11:30 at night. That's just mean! How many expressos did you have?
GC: Five.
BP: Come in -proceed to get very drunk-

The plot is a little thick, but fairly easy to follow. While the audience is left out of the groups "plan," you don't even really know it or feel too out of the loop at any point. All the banter and characters make it all very enjoyable. The dialogue felt less tight, less rehearsed. The whole thing felt very spontaneous. I find it hard to compare it to the first one, because they are very different films. 12 has a defined indie feel. Less glitz and flash. More ambitious camera angles, color saturations and focus tricks. The locations in and around Europe were totally amazing too. I loved the movie a lot. I can't wait to see it again.

I'm usually not a fan of remakes, since i loved the original Oceans 11, but with George Clooney, Casey Afflek, Matt Damon & great writing and directing the movie was AWESOME! I can't wait to check this one out! Esp with hottie, Catherine Zeta Jones.

I didn't see the first one in the theater. I'll probably wait for it to come to rental.

I do believe I've finally realized what all the fuss was about with Matt Damon. I absolutely ADORE him now. I WILL be seeing this movie, largely for the fact that he's in it. :)

I like him too. He has a cool fu-manchu mustache in this flick.

He's one of my fav's in Ocean's 11...I loved the dynamic between him and his brother in the movie.

The story line was there only it had no lure...I don't know about this Drowning Mona, didn't do much for me. What was that obnoxious lil' tin can car like EVERY character had?!?! Wow I got mad mullet jokes.

Yeah Ben Affleck is nothing but a common staple in a strip bar. no class at all I says.

I loved the first. I'm a fan of almost ALL the actors. The director, Steve Soderbergh, is amazing. It makes perfect sense that i'm going to see this opening night.
