One of my favorite parts of X Men 3 was when Prof. X was talking to wolverine after they had found out gene grey was alive:
Wolverine: "How did she live through that?"

...Yeah, real logical explaination. I wish wolverine had said, "maybe she just crawled to shore."

lol, that was the ABSOLUTE most cheesiest line in the whole movie. I think everyone laughed at it in the whole theater. So stupid.
I know you guys didn't like the "cliche" lines in the movie, but I think that's what makes it more like....Marvel. It's a comic book. Comic books use (almost exclusively) cliche comic book dialog. So the movie actually is better, because it fits the mold better...even if it is cheesy.
I liked it, but wasn't blown away or in love with it like the last two. I missed the end cuz my stepmom has the movie at her house which didn't include the end. But i have seen it three times. HAH!

the mutant that had the wooden spike thingies come out of his hands and then he thre them at Wolverine - AWESOME
that one tough chick - i totally bet they tried to get M.Rod for that part and she declined or she was just too busy drunk driving (Michelle Rodriguez).. anyway she was cool, and i liked that she beat up Halle Berry, and her death was sweet... death by lightning... sweeeeeeeeeeet

Here's what I don't get.....the guy with the face spikes is on imdb as Kid Omega.....but if you look at some of the quotes from "Spike" in the movie, they are the ones that the "Kid Omega" guy said. And the guy who played Spike is credited as a totally different guy (someone named Lance Gibson)

I can't believe they had Rogue sell out and take the injection. I don't like the way they portray her in these movies.
I wondered how the heck shadowcat could fight the end battle seeing as she was little and had no real offensive powers. but they showed how she could use her powers in battle so that was pretty good.

I thought this movie was absolutely awful. I'm still too angry (days later) to elaborate on this.
Ok. I saw this movie last night at midnight, and I thought that it was pretty good. I never read the comic books, so I can't say how accurate it is, but a friend of mine says that it is nothing like what happens in the books.
A few comments:
The bad:
I'm probably not going to be very popular for saying this, but, I said it for X-men, and I said it for X-2, and this proves it: Halle Berry is a terrible Storm. She's a beautiful actress, but she absolutely fails to capture Storm's personality.
The Phoenix didn't have nearly a large enough role. Most of the movie she was just standing around looking angry rather than actually doing anything.
The good:
Other than Halle Berry, most of the casting was pretty good. As with the other two movies Patrick Stewart is perfect as Charles Xavier. Kelsey Grammer is brilliant as the Beast too. Ditto for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ian McKellan as Magneto.
As is to be expected with a movie with this kind of budget, the special effects are awesome. Especially the parts where the Phoenix is actually doing something.

storm is supposed to be exotic and foreign. halle berry is beautiful, but i'm sorry...she can't act.

I'm super pissed about the lack of sentinels. You teased us all, Ian, you teased us all!!!! They could've done so much more with the story. I read one spoiler that said the cure was actually something manufactured to kill the mutants that took it. That would've been much cooler and more interesting.

If you find yourself dealing with an unexpected backstory, and a preponderance of exposition, then you are dealing with the concluding chapter of a trilogy. True trilogies are all about going back to the beginning and discovering something that wasn't true from the get go. 'Godfather', 'Jedi', all revealed something that we thought was true, that wasn't true. Anyone including the main character can die.
it's dumb that everyones going for trilogies. why not just keep making good movies!? make 5 good x-men movies. let the stories breaatthhe.

That was sorta my point. Episode 2 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It just doesn't seem possible to keep a good franchise going. Then again, there are exceptions (e.g., Star Trek).
star trek is a pretty cool. they're releasing franchise-wide collections of themed episodes. the time travel one floats my boat. it certainly is hard to keep a good franchise going, i'll agree. BUT it can be done. FIRST: get people who LOVE the material. SECOND: don't rush it. THIRD: don't reinvent the franchise over and over. BUILD! X-men is such a rich, rich, rich franchise with so many stories and characters and it APPEARS they're messin' it up. i'm hoping i'm wrong.
It appears that you are right. The movie looks awesome, don't get me wrong, but there was just sooooo much more stuff they could of done. There are hundreds of story lines that could have been worked with. X-men could have had a lot more good movies.

I read that most of the Phoenix story in the movie is Jean recalling her life as a little girl - that's what the comic story was, right?
i don't know. i'm staying spoiler free. i haven't even seen the trailer yet. i want to be surprised.
I don't know how the cartoon relates to the comic but in the cartoon that is nothing like the Phoenix saga.
In the cartoon, they are travelling in their space ship (of course) but they're going to have to pass through the sun (why?) One of the x-men has to wear a special suit and pilot the ship while the rest can go back into the special compartment where they won't become fried. So, Jean is the one who flies the ship through the sun.
In the sun there is this entity, the Phoenix, for some reason. It attaches itself to Jean. I think its supposed to be guarding some kind of crystal and was trapt there by the Shi'ar empire (the queen of which is like..the girlfriend of the Professor).
Sometimes the Phoenix is good and sometimes the Phoenix is bad. THe Shi'ar want to kill the Phoenix. Jean faints a lot and goes "Oooh Scott!" and I have no idea how it all resolves itself.
it was a solar storm... they flew through beacuse the ship was nearly falling apart.. and the solar radaition destoryed the mental block professor X had put in jean greys mind.. and that unleashed the phoenix within her.

Again, watching X-2 too much: I noticed this morning in the scene in the bar when Mystique drugs that security guard guy, when they're watching the news, one of the people on tv is "Dr. Hank McCoy". It wasn't Kelsey Grammer, but the voice sounded just like the one on the animated series. And he wasn't blue.

Does anyone know anymore about this movie? I've been watching x-men and x-men 2 constantly over the past week - I'm addicted.
First of all, I wish Bryan Singer was still directing. I'm interested to see how that plays out.
Second, IMBD said the plot is that a cure is discovered for mutations, which i believe was in the comic at some point, right? If not that, I remember it in the cartoon.
Third, characters. I really really really wanted Gambit to be in this one. He was my absolute favorite x-man. The addition of Beast is cool, but I was hoping they'd keep nightcrawler. I also hope the pheonix thing is handled well. Plus, the more I watch the first two, the more I wish they'd done Rogue better. She was so cool in the comic, so strong and take-no-prisoners, but they made her kind of weak in the movies.
I think the reason why she isn't so strong right now is because she hasn't absorbed some of Juggernaut's power..
Hmmm.... Juggernaut's not going to be in this one, is he? And I don't think they're bringing Colaussus (sp?) back either.

I personally agree with the choices of actors EXCEPT for: Rogue and Storm. Don't get me wrong, I think Hallie Berry is beautiful, but I hate her acting and lines and junk. Terrible. Just terrible. Rogue is supposed to be drop-dead-gorgeous. She was always my favorite super hero-ette. I hate their choice in actress.
Yah..they've kind of messed with the whole Rogue thing, I keep hoping they'll fix it somehow (we need her to encounter lady America whatever).
Wow I thought the EXACT same thing since they started the movie series...I think the original Storm (from the animated series) was modeled after Iman and she in my opinion was PERFECT...to bad they couldn't find a really hot Ethiopian or Egyptian actress with a crazy sexy voice.
