King Kong
Good GOD... this was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG movie... Just saw it last night... and i think im gonna put my review up here. Spoilers to those who have lived under a rock and dont know the story about King Kong.
First let me just say. 3 hrs and 7 min. WOW... i mean... 3 hours and 7 min sitting on your butt is bad enough as it is. We sit at conventions for only 2 and a half hours till break usually... so this was painful on old Supastar's hindparts... But then for it to be a REALLY boring first hour, that kinda put a damper on it for me atleast. I liked the choice in actors and i liked the way it was filmed. Shots of NYC were just spectacular. They really got the feel of the city life and the look of buildings and such. It actually was shot very vintage. It was like watching a old 20's movie for alot of the scenes which i thought was pretty cool actually.
Action scenes, a billion thumbs up. Some of the fight scenes were pretty incredible. Landing on the island and seeing those creepy people... wow. pretty cool stuff. The fight between the T-Rex's and Kong sooooo awesome. It was almost worth the movie ticket just to see that. Also the chase scene with the Bronc's and Rapters... REALLY amazing idea, HORRIBLE CG effects. I was actually shocked in how bad it looked. But overall, i liked the action... specially the look of the final fight.
So.... i give this maybe 7 stars. It was pretty good, but i wouldnt see it again. Funky probably will love this movie.... cause he is ghey.

wish they would just change the ending and make him survive and live happily ever after on his island
or someseenk
well, i definatly would not have gone to see it if it hadnt been for my dad & austin. me & my mom reallyyy didnt want to see it, but it wasnt as boring as i anticipated, and even though it was more of a guys movie, both my dad and austin thought it was good, but they could have made it at least an hour shorter.
i'm not sure i understand: even though it was more of a guys movie, both my dad and austin thought it was good
are u saying they're not guys??? ;)
haha no, i mean, even though it was a guys movie and they liked it, they thought it could have been shorter.
watched it tho i had the flu...didn't notice the 3 hrs. didn't bother me a bit. fight scenes---awesome! jack black---i was a bit suspect of his cast, but when u consider how greasy his character is, u realize jake (i call him jake) plays a great phony.
here's MY question...what's with that outfit on ms darrow for the last hour? i mean, it's winter time, and she comes strolling down 42nd st with a silk nightgown. for continuity's sake, it certainly matches up with the first kong movie, but if memory serves, ms. darrow was taken from her bedroom.
wouldn't mind seeing the movie a few more times on the big screen...
i dont think i could bear sitting down that long again...
i thought you sat that long twice a day, DROPPIN A DEUCE
Oh no he didn't!
or as we call it in Toms River, dropping the "sequel." orrrr if it's a real nasty affair - - - "THE TRILOGY!"
hahaha.
yuk...is that like 'droppin off the kids'?
yeahp, but we've come a long way since then, old man. try some new ones like "dropping the browns off at the superbowl." or "dropping the huxtables off at the pool." politically incorrect. oh, yes.
i liked it a lot. it was a good length i thought. but i love long movies. the longer the better. usually. y'know, unless it really sucks. but i was shocked that it was two hours and they were not off Skull Island yet. i was like, "whoa, long flick." but Peter Jackson has earned his place among directors who can make a long flick and totally get away with it, while other smaller/weaker directors get hassled over 3 or 4 minutes by their studios.
the CGI totally blew my head. completely. the "long neck" scene with the chasing raptors was so intense. and y'know THIS is how Jurassic SHOULD have been. THREE JP FLICKS and dinos don't get shot fulla holes. THIS was so awesome. when the movie star dude shoots wildly and hits the bronto in the legs making it fall, i couldn't believe it. so amazing. and like matt said, KONG VS T-REX x 3! i just sat there with my mouth open. the part with all the bugs was nnnaasssstyyy. and the cook finally getting eaten by those "dog penis slug bugs" was soooooo awful. after LOTR Peter Jackson can get away with anything. the ending was sad. jack black's character peeved me. over all VERY good. but i guess we can expect quality from old PJ. he's a good director when it comes to emotion/eye candy. a hard combo to pull off. highly enjoyable effort, this flick.
hahaha... dog penis slug bugs??? is that their technical name?
someone i was with said that and i almost fell outta my chair. because that's kinda what they look like. i didn't think of it because i don't have a dog, i guess. but, yeah, that's now the official WETA name.
My 2 cents: I really liked it! Definitely a tad long though, some of the scenes were way too drawn out. Action scenes were pretty sick though, loved Kong vs. T-Rex. Movie couldv'e been cut down to under 2 hours easily without losing much.
Overall I loved it, but wasn't IN love with it?
crap... where is the "gay" tag to mod this...
7 out of 7 stars ain't bad! glad you loved it
lol idiot.
Haven't seen it, a little discouraged about it being three hours, but I think it might be worth it, to see it on the big screen.
Also, the horrible CG in the chase scene, was intended to be fake looking. Jackson did it, and many other things in the movie to pay homage to the original.
but it was interesting that some of the CG was great... so why make that scene stupid and crappy? I mean some of it was almost laughable. When the guys are running and they kick a raptor as they jump, i mean cmon... GAY GAY GAY
