i almost posted this. been waiting for this a long time. i'm glad pixar or the pixar clones didn't get their hands on it. i'm really happy it was given to Spike Jonze to develop in live action. now it won't just be another computer animated cartoon to be lost among the others. not that pixar's efforts aren't legitimate [wall-e was oscar nom'd]. i'm just glad it's a mostly practical production, with a real, live child to connect with. it will be easy for the original fans, now adults, to enjoy. as for the story? i have no idea. they must have embellished quite a lot. the book is really short. but, hey, spike jonze is the man. he'll make it worthwhile.
this was one of my favorite books as a child. i get what they're trying to do with the movie, but i don't think the story really lends itself to a live action movie.
