STUPID GOLLUM CONTEST! http://aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=16997
the ending was so stupid...the whole gollum struggle and all that crap.. horrible.. this is how it should have ended :
Frodo outstrectches his arm over the firey pits of mordor with the ring tightly clutched in his arm. As he's about to release this burden and become a hero for all eternity, the ring shines bright into frodos eyes.. and he's overcome with the rings last breathe for survival. his body encompassed with the evil... it body becomes still but he hears a whisper.. It's his gay lover SAM! sam yells out to frodo... " drop the ring mr.frodo .. drop the ring" ... and just in that moment frodo is bombarded with thoughts of sam, how sam was there for him.. how same so sweetly says " mr.frodo".. how if they are to survive.. they would marry.. kiss.. and adopt little hobbits. Frodo then empowers over the ring.. and slowly releases. BAM.. back at the shire.. frodo approaches sam and wants to talk about their future relationship.. but sam interupts him with news of his marriage to that chick that looks like she's 50. and frodo rages in an outbust and screams " what about all that 'mr.frodo' talk.. what about all those times you looked deep into my eyes on the rims or mordor.. i thought we had something special " .. .
"sorry mr.frodo.. i didn't know you were gay "
frodo storms off and goes to the gray havens.
the end.
Oh so this is what you would have done if you were frodo. Are you trying to tell us something here?
i didnt like it as much as i thought i would, having just read the book. the spider was not in the ROTK book. but the sets were inmpessive, i cant imagine HOW they filmed that thing.
Hey dint Aowin DIE in the book, in battle?
eowyn doesn't die. her arm goes numb from stabbing the nazgul. aragorn then heals her and farmair in the houses of healing using kingsfoil (the same stuff he used on frodo in fellowship after being stabbed by the same nazgul).
then faramir and eowyn fall in love and get married.
hmmmm....missed that part. hard book to read. but at least i finished it. just don't have a very good memory of ANYTHING.
Saw ROTK for the second time this weekend. SO GOOD.
Ahh this movie was amazing. My favorite part of course was when Eowyn said "I AM NO MAN!" ahhhhh wonderful, exactly how i pictured it.
Question. I forgot - what happens to Arwen, does she ever die, or what? I don't remember cos i read the book over a year ago...
Aragorn dies and then she lives her children (multiple children..not just one son that looks very much like a little girl!) and wanders middle earth (because she's not yet tired of living) and ends up dying in lothlorien where elves no longer are. It's very sad.
And with Eowyn..that was great. And I was very happy that they had Merry stabbing him too (though..what about the Black Breath and the hands of healing of the king?). If you read the appendix at the end of Return of the King it explains the whole thing behind "no man can kill me" because when Glorfindel first went up against the Witch King he made the statement about he could forsee the end of him and it was not by a man's hand (and since Merry isn't a man exactly he could have a part in it)
Where did you find that about Arwen? I couldn't find anything when I just checked now.
I just checked the chronology at the back of Return of the King, and I don't think anything is mentioned about what happens to Arwen.
You read the apendix "The story of Arwen and Aragorn"
Yeah, I'm stupid. I just saw that flipping through the appendices after I posted the above.
Ok! So I wanted to come on to ezabel right when I got home from seeing this BUT it was down.
I thought it was amazing! Definetly the best out of all three! I will never get over the lack of scourging of the shire because that's so important to me but they did include Frodo and the fact that he just couldn't enjoy it anymore (for a minute I thought they were going to leave that out and I was very upset). But really..I think they did an excellent job including a good amount of stuff. Like you could actually just listen and pick whole lines from the movie that were word-for-word from the book which I liked because in the other movies they did more paraphrasing. Faramir saying "..and if I do, think better of me" oh I got chills!
Paths of death..eh they used the army a little too much but it did look cool seeing them sweep over everything. Legolas taking down an Oliphaunt? Amazing! I'm not quite sure what the need for Elrond to speedily make his way to Harrowdale to present the sword to Aargorn that he should have been carrying since Fellowship. Minas Tirith was amazing looking as well. Yeah..so I really wasn't disapointed at all.
Yah think there's a reason half those people were asian?
maybe cuz it's SanFran?
Ah..makes sense
What was with that person with the gold and black paint on their face, I don't get who they're supposed to be.
an orc i think
it was that wrestler Goldust.
i think they were trying to be like the Haradrim
Yeah, I realized that once I saw the movie.
how were half of them asian. i saw one guy in two pictures... hmmmm
were the other half gay?
This kid from my algebra class when rented a suit of armor to wear to this movie when it came out. He was going to wear it through the entire movie. He said it weighed about 40 pounds. He was going to have to sit through a like 3hr movie wearing a suit of armor not to bright if you ask me. He was quite a feak I must say. Not to bright either I might add.
Aragorn used to be marrid to this chick:
i just got back from seeing Return of the King. It was totally amazing. I guess films are going to go on and keep topping each other as time wears on and more money is spent and as technology continues to advance. up to this point, LOOKS-WISE, this is one of the most beautiful movies i've ever seen. all the architecture is georgous, the backrounds are vibrant and alive, but never outshine the actors performances. and, BOY, what an achievement. every single actor is GREAT. to me Sean Astin shines the brightest. he's perfect. he WILL win an oscar. mark my words. and Elijah Wood is great too. slightly underplayed, but mannnn his face told a story of TIRED AGONY. very well done. gollum is CGI too good for words. each moment gollum was on-screen i never thought to myself he's CGI, he's not real. he's so alive and tormented and manipulative. amazing. the effects are just amazing. nothing like 'em anywhere. just astounding. all i gotta say is when you see the Olyphants or whatever you'll almost fall over. everyone go watch it, so we can chit-chat a bit. now i'm going to read the books as soon as i can.
Well, I just got back from watching it now, and while I agree that it was amazing in all the respects you mentioned, I was still a little disappointed with it. I already had lowered expectations of it given that I knew the scouring of the shire was going to be omitted, but they completely omitted anything about the fate of Saruman. As far as the movie is concerned, he's still locked in Orthanc. There were a few other minor things omitted, but the Saruman plot hole really annoys me. But I do have to say that the battle of the black gates/destruction of the ring sequence was absolutely amazing. And the destruction of the witch-king of Angmar was too. Oh, and the Shelob sequence. Actually, just about everything they actually did was amazing; it was just the Saruman omission that bugged me.
If that's the only thing that bugged you, I think the Extended Edition DVDs will satisfy you, as the Saruman scenes will be back in (excluding the shire)
Yup, Yup. It's confirmed.
That's good. I would have liked the scouring to be there, but I guess it really isn't possible to put it into a movie like this since everyone sees the destruction of the ring as the climax. The battle of Bywater would have been cool to see on screen, though.
didja cry at the end?
I got a little choked up, but I don't think I actually cried which surprised me because I really expected to.
i did. like four seperate times over the last 40 minutes. resonance.
cried over lord of the rings ? you knew what was gonna happen right...
fact is--i knew very little of what was gonna happen. i never read the books.
hey! how did u get in a day early? a little sorcery?
anyway, all I've read about this movie is its a MASTERPIECE.
i went to a midnight showing.
