Spiderman 2
I liked it. I think I liked more than the first. Great character development, the villian was so much better than green goblin, and it had some really cool comic book moments.
What'd you think?

i def liked the first one better but the second one was aiight
movie was a 4 on the 1-10 scale
it was ok but it felt so long and kind of frustrating-esp w/ him and maryjane. i wanted to scream. i agree with a lot of what jesse said and also the most unbelievable parts to me were:
a)no one on a subway in NYC is packing heat and taken out dr. ock
b)no one in NYC would sell him out and reveal his identity to the newspaper for $100.
haha i don't know why, but that is what i thought about during that scene. haha
I didn't think about anyone packing but your second statements was one of the first things out of my mouth. Anyone can be bought and for the right price I'd tell you who spiderman is!
Yeah i said the same thing while it was happening. lol.
That kid for $10 would tell anyone who spiderman is. lol
I liked the updating of the character. In the comics doc ock was a scientist who looked like elton john with a bowl haircut.
I think this movie was more like a drama than anything else. It was trying to make you cry and make some moral statements while throwing in some action scenes..
I enjoyed this greatly. Right before I went in some friends told me that it wasn't any good, what were they talking about? As a devoted Spidey fan I must say that it was definetly awesome.
Doc Oct is such a cool bad guy though killing him off was kind of lame. I also totally called them setting up for the Hob Goblin the second before it happened..Woohoo! That should be good.
The elevator scene was good stuff..Hal Sparks rules!
The losing his powers thing was kind of dumb. I know at one point in his life his powers get messed up and he starts mutating into a real spider and all this bad stuff happens so maybe they were kind of trying to use that or something? I don't know.
I didn't like the guy playing Doctor Conners..he was too large and his hair needed to be darker.
Does Mary Jane ever wear a bra?
haha she is always cold and wet
does anyone know the origin of Dr. Octopus in the comics? (I doubt it had to do with artificially intelligent arms manipulating a fusion reactor since it was written in the 60's I think) I'm just curious. They did a good job of updating the origin I thought, just like how they updated Spiderman being bitten by a genetically-engineered spider.
I'm not sure exactly but I think it had to do with him working with radioactive material through a shielded wall but then he ran out of funding and had to work without the protection he should have had and there was an accident and the arms he was using fused to his back. This is probably not completely accurate but I believe it was somewhere along those lines.
Otto Octavius was a brilliant atomic researcher who designed and constructed a chest harness to which four artificial tentacle-like arms were attached. This harness enabled him to manipulate radioactive substances from a safe distance. In a freak laboratory accident, the scientist was bombarded with radiation. The accident bonded his harness to his skin and nervous system and drove the scientist criminally insane. Octavius found that he could control his arm mentally rather than by the mechanical controls. Calling himself by his laboratory nickname, "Doctor Octopus" has tried to amass wealth and power through a variety of criminal activities. After many defeats at Spider-Man's hands, Doctor Octopus activities have expanded to include destroying the wall-crawler as well. Eventually, surgery removed the harness from Octavius' body, but he still retains mental control over his arms.
I saw this Tues at midnight. line was around the building. I pretended I didn't see it and walked right in. apparently, so had a lot of other people, because 2 out of 4 theaters were already filled up. great movie all-around.
No you didn't, you saw it Wednesday at midnight.
Overall I thought it was an awsome movie. Better than the first? I don't know about that. Personally I really liked the development of green goblin better, but that's just me. I've heard people say it was the best superhero movie ever made and that I don't agree with but again that is my opinion. Overall the movie totally rocked despite some minor inconsistancies that will be in every superhero movie. So overall IT ROCKED!
I was just about to post about this as well but was debating if it should go in the Geek Forum.
I caught the midnight showing and I've had some time to dwell on the comments. WARNING, SPOILERS LAY AHEAD....
I struggeled with determining if this was actually better then the first one. The fight scenes were amazing. I don't know if I think Dr. Octopus was a better villian. I think the green goblins character was developed better and I love how they set up for the 3rd movie. There were some great comic releif moments in the movie.
Now for my issues. How could he (Spiderman) suddenly start loosing his powers. Now I can see being weak after exerting yourself or not getting enough sleep and not being able to shoot webs. But when he rescued that girl from the burning building, he ramed his shoulder into the door and said ow. That was stupid. His vision going back to bad so he needed his glasses, dumb.
When Dr. Octupus was coming they made these earthquake like sounds and made things shake. Those arms are supposed to be light weight, and I doubt he would be thrusting that much energy into just walking, even up a building. And what's with the predator like sounds those arms were making?
How great was it when they shot that scene on the elevator. It was perfect.
Overall it was a great movie, I look forward to the 3rd. But to me somethings just didn't make sense since his DNA is altered and he still experianced issues.
Well Jesse interestingly enough as I was walking out of the movie Adam and I got behind some real spider-man fanatics who were talking about exactly that, spider-man losing his powers and they were talking about how that really happened in one of the comics i heard them mention which one and what happened in it but I don't really remember what they said. Adam said he knew what they were talking about so maybe I'll ask him and see what he said.
Yeah I had a problem with the arms too, they always made so much noise and shook the ground like an earthquake but then there were a few times when they made no noise whatso ever.
well, when he was climbing buildings, the "earthquake" WAS appropriate because he wasn't just grabbing onto the walls. He was actually puncturing the walls as he climbed. Remember when that office woman went to look out the window to see what was shaking? She almost got impaled by one of those things!
Yeah, that was fine, but I'm talking when he was just walking down the street. Remember when they were sitting in the coffee shop and she was about to kiss him?
he may have been climbing down a building at that point... theoretically
Ok think that, if it makes you feel better. ;)
it does :`[
Even if that's the case in the part where he sneaks out he climbs down the building after getting what he needed and there is no noise of him climbing down.
As far as the elevator seen let me just say I was dying laughing. So funny.
i thought they kinda explained him losing his powers because it wasn't in his heart.
Thats a lame excuse though. His DNA has been altered, he is physically stronger and more durable. How do you lose that over an emotional issue?
arggh you just ruined the movie for me
Jesse strikes again. lol
I make sense though, right? :P
