Basically, provides automatic relationships in your models based on database schema. Even works with :has_many .., :through => ...

I thought this was a really cool idea. I was wondering why this wasn't part of Rails when I first started messing around with it.

And I also like this meta-programming discussion on how it works.

(I'm still learning about Ruby, but I grok most of this)

eZabel is now running Rails 1.2. I haven't refactored it to use REST yet, but I may.

One nice thing is that now the autolink function works a lot better on links that people post with commas and question marks.

sweet. I'm going to RailsConf'07

iwz iwz ·

Wow! That's awesome! You're doing a lot of Rails work nowadays?

deanh77 deanh77Founder ·

I worked on a couple prototypes, nothing in production yet, and I was helping out another group to get their Rails project going. I'm in a new group now, so I'm trying to get them to use it, and I'll be using it for any new work I do myself.

here's a great cheat sheet for the REST stuff that's coming in Rails 1.2

http://topfunky.com/clients/peepcode/REST-cheatsheet.pdf

has a link to the $9 89 minute screencast as well, which i didn't purchase but I hear is great

yeah I was looking at that today. so tempting. (thanks for changing the title)

can we rename this thread into a generic ruby/rails thread?

I found this last week, I haven't had a chance to watch them, but hopefully soon:
http://podcast.sdruby.com/

this is exactly what I was looking for, the local (philly, nyc) user groups have interesting talks that I'd like to go to, but i've got no time, this user group (San Diego) posts podcasts of their talks.

just sticking this here so it's not on the homepage.

The rails team has been BUSY over the past week, sheesh!

Here's a nice little write-up of some of these commits. most of the recent activity will be in rails 1.2

thanks. its hard to keep up with all this stuff. I've been reading "Rails Recipes" great book, I'm learning about a lot of the features in 1.1 that weren't in the Agile Web Dev with Rails book.

"provides automatic relationships in your models based on database schema"

wouldn't it be cool if we had this in real life? models!? sign me up.

iwz iwz ·

Wow, this is pretty impressive. I may check it out some more.

Thanks!

what's with the left-and-right justification? me no likey.

iwz iwz ·

yeah that looks pretty screwed up. it's the full justification that's used by this stylesheet.
