LiteStep
Anyone ever use this before? It's a shell to use instead of Explorer. I'm getting ready to install it on a XP Pro machine to check it out. They were talking about it on TechTV last night so I figured I'd check it out.
Supposedily it runs with less memory then Windows Explorer which takes up about 12 MB. I guess I'll let you know my findings with it.
You can read the review of it here: http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/downloadoftheday/story/0,24330,3614052,00.html
By the way, LiteStep is free and open source.

ehh... this isn't programming.
but I've heard of litestep.
there was an article in 2600 this quarter about different explorer.exe replacements.
Since it's open source and you could technically program for it, it could be. :P
I'll use GEEK Chat next time. ;)
yeah, I was gonna let it slip by since it was open source, but come oooon... :)
don't worry, dean's a nazi when it comes to the programming/geek forums.
you know what? they're basically the only forums I read on here. sometimes I'll peruse General or Movies, but not often.
you need to get some more geeks on here.
I can't program for my life. I don't think like that. I'm a trouble shooter.
But I am trying to learn Flash. Would that be programming or Geek?
haha yeah, seems there's only 3 of us.
hackerscum
jealous you didn't find a crack first?
crack THIS! hackerchumps!
I think i messed around with LiteStep a few years ago. But I don't think I'd use it for real ever. Especially not with ThemeXP and the themes support built into xp.
That's all add ons right? I've never seen it for free.
I like the feel of LiteStep, I've got it on my home PC and work PC now. There's just a few things I like better about it. I'm still playing with customizing it the way I like, but I'm happy so far. I'm debating about putting it on my other home PC.
there's a program you can run to hack around with your registry in xp to get it to work with the free tools out there.
