For those just interested in the real game...

What do you think the NHL will be like this season? How will the rule changes increase scoring?

I think scoring will be up a little bit, as goalies' stats have been ridiculously good with scoring way down. Last season (03-04) there werent even any 100 point scorers. That will change.

Most improved team: Pittsburgh Penguins. Not only do they draft Sidney Crosby but they now have Sergei Gonchar, Mark Recchi, Ziggy Palffy and John LeClair. They are gonna have a nice team. As long as youngster Marc-Andre Fleury gets some experience in net, they're gonna be a fun team to watch.

What about the local teams? The Rangers look like they might not make the playoffs again, but at least they have a good group of young players. They will be good in a couple years.

The Devils will lose every game. I wish, anyway...they will be hindered by the rule changes that "neutralizes" the neutral zone trap. Hopefully, this boring style of play will never be seen in a game again, and maybe then I can stay awake during a Devils game.

I don't like the new rule changes they make it sooooo not hockey they are trying to turn it into a ghey sport. The rules make it a more offensive sport but that's not what hockey is and people who aren't already interested in it won't be more interested with these rule changes, and that was the point of them.

Still not happy with them!

i'm digging it. its still as agressive but there are more scoring chances...i dont like the rule of the goalie not being able to come out of the crease to play the puck....i miss the good ol days where roy or DH would come out and challenge the forwards mid ice....

socalgal #1 socalgalOG 2003

i luv the fact that they'll have a shoot-out at the end of a tied game, that is def my favorite.

being fined for instigating a fight, not cool, penalty yes, fined no.

icing rule....don't know how thats going to play out....i'll have to see.

Either way i'm just stoked to have the game back! and i'm excited to see Wayne behind the bench!

oh and one other thing, west coast rocks and i'm sure they'll give the east coast teams a good run for the money. the kings are looking really good w/the addition of Roenick....maybe they'll have a chance....then again, the ducks are beefing up, getting Randy Carlysle as the manager, a new owner, adding scott neidermeyer, one of the best defensemen out. can you believe rob and scott are on the same team? and last but not least the addition of Teemu..my boy is back in town! WOOT WOOT!
