Ugh.......Da FOOSball

specialk by specialkOG 2003 · Aug 26, 2005 · 227 views

Ok, so I'll admit it. I'm not a HUUUUGE sports fan. I do enjoy watching the random game, and I'll occasionally get into it. But I'd much rather be in the kitchen with the other wives who share my feelings, eating or chatting about the husbands in the other room going ape over a game.

So I realized the other night that preseason football is upon us. Of all the sports, football is one of the easiest for me to get into, BUT I have my limits. I lose my husband year round to sports, it seems. Golf in the spring and summer, snowboarding in the winter, and football all the other months. Can I just have a break for like, a month or two? Is that too much to ask? Do any of you other girls feel slightly the way I do? Like I said, I'm not sports bashing here....I love a good game every now and then....but everything in moderation.....maybe it's just me. I know plenty of chicks who love sports more than guys. Ok, I'm done.

*Men, don't kill me for this post, either*

originalsnob #8.1.1.1 originalsnobOG 2004

I like the explaination that was given. It's like we were playing one game and they were playing another. Duh, it's called strategy.

Boooooo, you're one of those wives :(

No, really I'm not. Like I said, I enjoy the occasional game or two. Adam and I are even planning on taking Tyler to Washington DC to see the Redskins this fall. It should be fun.
But I just don't like it when it seems that my husband's entire free time consists of either watching or playing or talking about sports, including Fantasy Football (minus the gambling aspect). I'm a bit selfish, yes. But I can holler at the TV with the best of them too.

thefunkyfresh #5.1.1 thefunkyfreshFounder

the thing is to really appreciate it you have to have played the game at some point. i've never played in school or anything, but i love playing just with friends and stuff. it's seriously such a fun fun game. perfect mix of technical, mental, and brute aspects, i just love it. and then you fall in love with the professional game and get attatched to that. and then fantasy football, forget about it. but see i've never gotten into college football, I think because i didn't go to a football college. theres just so many teams and its hard to keep track of what's going on.

specialk #5.1.1.1 specialkOG 2003

I would get broken into many tiny pieces.

socalgal #5.1.1.2 socalgalOG 2003

the only college i watch is when USC is playing.

thefunkyfresh #4 thefunkyfreshFounder

its a given that the girl i marry must put up with me watching sports and must to some extent be athletic herself

socalgal #4.1 socalgalOG 2003

seriously, i don't think i could ever marry a guy that was not into sports, or that was not active in some way, like surfing, snowboarding....etc.

rocksupastar #4.1.1 rocksupastarFounder

im into thumb wrestling... but i wouldnt marry you, go get me a taco.

socalgal #4.1.1.1 socalgalOG 2003

i absolutely love the fact that my husband and his guy friends are not into sports AT ALL like not even a little bit. I would much rather listen to them rock out on guitar and drums and stuff and I would even rather watch them play videogames than have to endure Sunday after Sunday of football.

I ... am .. so ... lucky ( if i may use the word lucky.)

I mean seriously. FABULOUS.

I enjoy the occasional game... like once a year, like .. the superbowl, sometimes. I only watch like 10% of it anyway though. And once in a while I like going to baseball games, because they're fun, I went a couple of times and only watched maybe 1 minute of the game and the rest of the time just hung out with everyone and chatted it up and drank $9 beers. I mean really... sports... what in the world.. watching someone play sports.. UGH i can't get into it

thefunkyfresh #3.1 thefunkyfreshFounder

football rules!

tesoro #3.2 tesoroOG 2001

yup, same here. austin isnt into watching sports at all. i'm so happy i dont have to fight w/ him for the remote. but him & his buddies get pretty rowdy when playing video games, which can get annoying...but like u said...better than sports game.

i like watching some sports games. basically just the "major" games in a few sports. i lreally ike baseball---> yankees

thefunkyfresh #2 thefunkyfreshFounder

there has to be a balance of course but i love sports, and especially football. Please do not distract me while i am watching the game, and no it is not funny when you stand in front of the TV!!!

socalgal #1 socalgalOG 2003

one thing i will never take away from a man or make him ever walk away from is sports!!! i know the feeling all too well. thats his passion, you must appreciate he's passionate about something and whats a few hours of you doing something by yourself. go for that massage you deserve, meet up w/some girlfriends. make that your time if you don't like sports.

if a guy i date ever makes me turn off the TV while i'm watching a game or whines that i watch to much sports, i'll say BUH BYE! lol

rocksupastar #1.1 rocksupastarFounder

would you actually pronounce it like that too?
