I'm thinking car questions go in the thread about sports, for some reason...does anyone know a better place?

If not...hmm...I want a car that says "I'm not a teenager anymore"...I'm open to cost-effective/low insurance suggestions...and not a car that EVERYONE has...i see approx. 40,000 accords per day, easily

OK OK...here's the UPDATE

In the end, I got a 2000 Mazda 626 V6. No sunroof, or anything too fancy, got a sweet deal on it too. If I get tired of it in a few months...I can get something else...because I'll be done paying it off by then! (which is my favorite part). Also, then I could quit my job...or at least cut back my hours...and not worrry. that'd be really nice.

the more i think about it...the less i want to spend a lot of money on a newer car...and insurance...i'm thinking like a 98 altima, quit my 45 hour a week job, and pioneer. wow. i love it.

Dan, I have been feeling the same way. I think some ppl might take me more seriously if I had a grown up car. My Dentist parks his newest Acura next to my lil blue (not to mention old) VW that has the bumper sticker "visualize grilled cheese" on the back (among other stickers). I would like a more adult car that I can drive out in service, and make it to NJ or wherever with no worries. I am thinking I'd like a new VW Passat. If I can't have a down payment by march, I'll prolly get new Jetta instead. OR I'll get something thats slightly used, like a 2002. I'm just not sure. Buying cars are a pain in the tookus.

my current car is ok...but not good. getting a new car IS difficult. down payments, interest rates, insurance transitioning, paying tax, etc. so annoying. every time i think about getting a brand new car...i think...5 years of payments...and at the end, i'm paying the same $350/month for a 5 year old car...WHYYYYYYY...i don't get that. stupid.

i am also not a good saver.

anyway, i'm thinking about...

Nissan Altima (thanks, bryan)
Mazda 626 (not too old - this car is suprisingly not expensive)
Hyndai Sante Fe (do not laugh - this sport utility has a V6 and gets 26 MPG)
Nissan Pathfinder (it's a little out of my reach, and bigger than i need, but DEFINITELY a "i am an adult i can put 4 car seats in the back" truck)

ohhh, sorry. i didn't read the subject text, just the comments. you could try a Kia Rio. them are thrifty! maybe a new Carolla, or an Altima.

i like it a LOTTTTTTT. yes. but - too new. i'm lookin for something 98 - 2000. i don't really like the old version of this car that much. although i may get one anyway. 5 speed..hmm. V6. hmm.

haha u r correct, i spoke with him yesterday and he ended up not getting the car.. he didn't have the money so hes waiting another 6 months haha but he WAS going to buy it.. just never went thru with it
