Playing hockey on sunday. I can't wait, going to be so much fun.

i play hockey and id own all of you.

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

replaces own with sit on & fart

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Nah he could never do that because he falls down way too much, he can't catch anyone to even attempt to sit on them.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

oh whatever squirt i'd be checking you left and right!!!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah you totally could. Mike's a wimp, got a big mouth but that's about it. lol

R
rocksupastarFounder ·

HA... maybe with my new skates cause im not used to them, but i can skate circles around you.... and my slap shot IS unstoppable.... like joshie well knows....

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

don't blame it on the skates M&M boy

R
rocksupastarFounder ·

when ur used to skating on wheels that are more metal than wheel... and you got to like the bestest skates ever... its hard to handle the change... i can actually skate and turn and stop now... lol

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

WHAT!!!! That's very hard to believe. :-P

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i have a hockey stick. it says JAGR on it.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

wow, did you get it from someone? thats most likely one of his personal sticks that he uses to play.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i got it from the sports authority. not expensive.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

way cool. i had no idea he had his own "signature" stick out.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah I saw them in the store the other day, I don't know didn't really appeal to me and too much money for it.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i dunno this stuff--how much is normal for a hockey stick?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

depends....is it a woodie? comp stick? you're looking at $45+

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i dunno what it's made of exactly. i'm thinking it's a comp. it was 30 or so.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

It's not bad if it's a good stick, I'm just cheap. lol

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

You know the intimidation factor has been working great for me lately. I do this thing where i skate as fast as I can and slam myslef into the boards and then bounce off and skate full speed and then do the same thing on the other side and I just go back and forth for a while. Man oh man I intimidated some guys so badly the other day I felt kind of bad because they actually got their stuff together and were going to leave because of it.

I even had people asking the other guys that where with us what in the world is wrong with me that I just throw myself around like that, it's great. hehehehehe

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

HAHAHAHAHA

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Well I've got to see from last week to this week I'm sure seeing improvement in my playing. Then again maybe it's just that everyone is rusty from the off season but man oh man I was skating around people like crazy this weekend and last.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i have nothing against hockey, but i'm happy to see that there is a lockout. I hope that MLB gets locked out too. These players are making WAY too much money. esp the NHL because over the past few years they've alienated so many fans (baseball is doing this now) with high ticket prices and other rubbish. they should be grateful they get to PLAY anything for a high paying living

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

MLB needs to disapear altogether...LOL

hockey is the lowest paid sport profession. the highest paid is $10 for 3 years compared to a basketball player who gets what $130 for 5 years. Uh yeah they don't deserve THAT much. No sportsman does.

To compensate for the low pay, they do raise the prices. Its sad but understandable.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i think the problems with both of those sports is that there is such disparity between the good teams and the bad teams. Where in the NFL any team has a chance each year to make the playoffs and win the superbowl, in the MLB and NHL the big money markets rule.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Actually that's not really true. In the NHL it isn't always the biggest money markets that win, look at the Rangers they have one of the highest salaries and they also have one of the worst teams year in and year out. That's one thing I love about hockey, you can have an group of amazing all stars play together but if they have no chemistry your team will stink. It's all about getting guys who play together well.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Well our hockey season has started once again and I hope people are ready to play because I sure am. Oh and Mike get ready to eat your trash talking. You better show up when we play. Might want to skate a round a bit to practice so I don't house you too badly. :-P
Hopefully we can have some good games this year. :-)

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Man I can't wait for hockey season to start up again. I miss it.

Yeah good one Jess now she knows the truth. BAH!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

OK my team, the Avs is one game away from losing it all! GRRRRR how can they do that? "insider" info that i rec'd is that Granato hates Selanne therefore making a healthy scratch.....placing him on the 4th line...etc. WAKE UP TONY, you need the speed of Selanne....also they need Roy back =(

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

It seems both our dreams may be dashed to pieces this year. :(

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

mines 2 years in a row! i'm used to it, i'm a ducks fan too, remember??? lol

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Good point. lol
This is new for me. :-P

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

rub it in HG! LOL

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yup I sure will it's my turn to now. :-P

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

WELLL WELLL WELLLL my little friend....the Avs made an amazing comeback last night (in your face ricci) and hopefully they can make a comeback adn take the series!

a little insight info i rec'd last night.....this is possibly Teemu Selanne's last experience in the NHL as he might go back home and play in the Finnish Leagues. he's over the NHL - =(

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Wow that stinks he is such a great player what are they gonna do without him.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

what am i gonna do without him! LOL

perrin perrinOG 2004 · socalgal

Yeah that's a pretty far distance to stalk someone from. :-P lol

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 · perrin

psst, i have his phone #.....and i know where he lives when he's not in So Cal....lol

perrin perrinOG 2004 · socalgal

Oh man it's a good thing he doesn't have a restraining order on you well at least not yet anyway. lol

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 · perrin

it was lifted after 5 years....thank you very much!

perrin perrinOG 2004 · socalgal

Let's hope the next one is even shorter maybe like only 2 or 3. :-P

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

Kovalev is a moron.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

The Devils have set yet another record. They allowed only 164 goals that's the fewest ever allowed in an 80 game season. Yet another amazing feat the Devils have accomplished. YAY!
GO DEVILS!!!!!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

blah blah blah.....GO AVS!!!!!! :p

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

who?

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

NAH! It's too much fun to stop. I know it's getting old. I'll try and cut it back some. :-P

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

I think he's got a great idea of what he's missing. And notice we're so excited about missing it too! :P

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Well that's your loss then and that means you really don't have any idea. :-P

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 · perrin

it's really funny when someone angrily defends something so completely asinine and stupid.

perrin perrinOG 2004 · fivezero

que est que ces't??? (i think i spelled it wrong)

perrin perrinOG 2004 · socalgal

I have no idea what that means. lol

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 · perrin

it was french for "what is it??"

perrin perrinOG 2004 · socalgal

Oh. My bad. I don't know french either. lol. I have enough trouble with English. lol

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 · modestjesse

the dead horse is nothing but hide and bone chips. beaten flat.

perrin perrinOG 2004 · fivezero

Yet you keep allowing me to say more about it. lol

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 · perrin

but who am i to come into a hockey forum and complain about cherlios references?! i'm outta here!

demolecularize the dead horse!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Oh man I just heard about what happened to Steve Moore in a hit from behind for seemingly no reason from Todd Bertuzzi. Man that guy got messed up bad.
Here's a link to the story.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1754963

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

yeah aren't the police investigating it? like the brashear incident....crazy

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

he got his neck broked

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

It seems it was in retaliation for Steve Moore taking out one of his teams players.
Yeah he's been suspended for the rest of the year and possibly longer.
Steve Moore might be gone permanently. Man this is so messed up and is going to give hockey such a bad name when it gets around. BAH!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

yeah jsut like with McSorley (sp?) they'll get over it fast....LOL

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

WOOOOOHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I just found out I'm playing hockey on friday. I really hope it doesn't rain.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

You are so easily amused.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Stop being jealous that you can't play friday with us. lol.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Though yes I am easily amused. :)

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·

Leetch got traded to toronto. NO Brian nooooooooooooooooo....oh man, what a sad thing to here first thing in the morning.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

you're kidding? who'd they get for him?

I remember when they traded gretzky from the kings, my whole world was shattered

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

What? Why in the world would they trade him. That's so messed up. They better have gotten someone good for him.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Might not be such a bad deal actually leetch is getting kind of up there. They got 2 prospects so we shall ahve to see how good these guys are. On top of that they got some first round draft picks which they really need.

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·

yeah i know they got 2 prospects but that is such an iffy thing. it's not like they traded him for someone they know is amazing. and he's been such an anchor for the team for a looooooong time. everyone respects him and he's mentored a lot of younger players. i know they need young blood, but why him? he was my fav.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah I know it's kind of rough deal. It all depends on how those 2 prospects are. If they are amazing then it will be the greatest trade but if they are horrible it will be the worst trade. Prospects are just a rough thing to trade a veteran that you KNOW is going to give you a good game day in and day out.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

Yeah, they need to totally restructure their team. They're in bad shape.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah that and they need to get rid of their old players and get some younger talent.

C
chuckthecloneOG 2002 ·

well seeing how it was 60 degrees out today i can't play anymore.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah I'd say your pond hockey is probably done for the season.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Oh man I just found out my favorite play Brian Rafalski is injury and will be out for a while. That really stinks.

C
chuckthecloneOG 2002 ·

hes one of my favorite players too. devil rule all. brouduer made some pretty crazy saves last night too.

omegatweeter omegatweeterOG 2003 ·

i loved floor hockey back in middle school. i even fractured my left pinky finger and i continued playing haha. i came home and my mom was freaking out cuz it was like broke, and i thought it was just swollen. but i bet that's not the same on skates. i can't wait to learn how and play some hockey.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah imagine how much fun you had on foot then multiply it by like 100 that's what hockey on skates is like.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

OH YEAH, you'll never want to take them off!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah well I don't even take mine off I just skae everyone though it's kind of rough giving a talk with skates on.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

ok that made me laugh out loud!

omegatweeter omegatweeterOG 2003 ·

man can you imagine if we had hover boots?! flying thru the air and stuff, aw man that'd be awesome!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

ok but that would make it a little hard to have a rink or specified playing area and man would it hurt to get checked to the ground. lol

omegatweeter omegatweeterOG 2003 ·

they could make a sphere bubble!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

lol you just won't give up the idea will you.

omegatweeter omegatweeterOG 2003 · perrin

:D you got it

perrin perrinOG 2004 · omegatweeter

Start playing on skates first then we will talk about hover skates. :-P

good thinkin lincoln

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i'm AMAZING at hockey. and by that i mean "i've heard of eric lindros"

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

what team does he play for??? lol

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Stop lying you know you have no idea who Eric Lindros is.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Jersey. It gets cold for a while here but the weather is so inconsistent around here ponds don't tend to stay frozen long.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Doh! this was supposed to be a reply to #177

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

ok, the ducks trade one of their 3rd line defenseman for Marty Skoula of the AVS, one of the best defensemen. Why would the Avs agree to the trade? They need Skoula since Blake is out for the season....so why would you trade one of the best when you need him?

*trades confuse me!

GO AVS

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah that doesn't make much sense. Sometimes teams make a trade and you just say to yourself what in the world are they doing. I think sometimes teams just make trades to make trades.

C
chuckthecloneOG 2002 ·

i love hockey. me and my friends play it every saturady on a pond. i've only played a few times but i'm pretty good.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

It stays frozen?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

i'm SO jealous! ;)

C
chuckthecloneOG 2002 ·

ya the ice is about a foot thick. it kinda stinks tho cause after we play we have to pump water where we played so the surface is clear. we got no zamboni

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Where do you live that it stay cold enough for you to do that?

C
chuckthecloneOG 2002 ·

bangor, PA.

don't know how but it stays cold all the time

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Wow. That's cool. I wish it was cold enough to do that here.

C
chuckthecloneOG 2002 ·

where do u live?

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Jersey. It gets cold for a while here but the weather is so inconsistent around here ponds don't tend to stay frozen long.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

I can't wait till next week. I'm going to a Devil's game the 25th. YAY!!!!!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

COOL! Good seats?

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Not great but decent. Right below nose bleed.lol. Not they are normally $52 seat but we got them for 26 someone else I know actually got them so I really am not sure exactly where they are.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

seriously, you're at a game....thats the joy!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yup sure is. It's always much better being at the game then watching on tv.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

Me too! Love the smell of the ice, just when you walk in the arena! I LUVVVVV IT! lol

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Isn't that just the best. Thef eel you get from sitting there watching a hockey game is just unlike any other sport.
Only 6 more days till the game. :)

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

it truly is! we got tickets last night for the ducks game....amazing game and its just great to be there! Who are the devils playing when you go? I always hit the ducks v. devils games here

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Their playing the Buffalo Sabers.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

It was such a great game. 8-2 was the final. They totally killed the Sabres. My 2 favorite players had great games too. Elias had 5 points. 2 goals and 3 assists and Rafalski my absolute favorite player had 1 goal and 1 assist and he was +3. Rafalski is just such a great defenseman.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

I LUV patrick! he's the man!!! I'm stoked you had a great time and that was an AMAZING score!!! Who do the sabres have now in goal?

*Is Jeff Friesen still on the Devils? what about Oleg Tverdovsky?

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah Elias is just amazing. He made some really great moves last nite. He was so close to a hat trick. his line the Elias, Gionta and Gomez line has been playing amazing hockey lately. In the last seven games they have had 16 goals and 23 assists. Amazing line. The egg line. lol.

Yeah they still have Friesen but I think they recently traded Tverdovsky away, though I'm not totally sure though I do know he's not on the team anymore.
The Sabres had Martin Biron in goal last nite. though after the first 6 goals they brought in their backup not sure what his name was though.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

The "egg" line, that's classic!

OMG I forgot about my man Gomes, how could i let that happen! when i was at mission I BEGGED the guys to get him to represent, didn't work though!

When Friesen would visit Mission me and my friend would joke with him "friesen is the reason for the season"

It's good that they let oleg go cause he was a selfish player! very handsome but selfish!

Yeah i would imagine they would pull the goalie!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah I'm not really sure where that came from though. I just found out they called them that the other day.

Yeah Gomez is great. It's amazing how the Devil's over the last couple of years have had some great players brought up. I love the fact that the reason their team is so great is because of their great team development over the years. Drafting good players and bringing them up. I hate when teams just buy their way to being great.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

RANGERS WIN!!! It was great going to Continental and cheering for the winning Blueshirts! Awesome.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

Ducks acutally won last night too! so hard to cheer for a losing team! LOL

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

The Comcast Ducks!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

ANAHEIM Comcast Ducks! LOL Maybe they'll do something great since Disney can't

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

What's that mean? Come on, they were good last year, they made it far!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

Yeah I know, believe me no one was more stoked than i and was privledged to go to EVERY playoff game, butthey really I mean REALLY messed up by not keeping the team together etc and were CRAZY not to keep paul and sign Teemu Selanne and it was ALL Disney's power that kept them from keeping their winning combo.

Also i'm upset with Jiggy, he jsut wasn't gettin jiggy with it this year! =(

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah I can't believe they let both of those guys go either. They were just an awsome combo. They were amazing to watch play.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

I am going to Rangers-Devils tommorow night! Let's see if we can start off the post-All star break on a winning streak, or just make it like every other year when we hover around the 10th spot in the East and never get any closer.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Man I wish I was going. I would love to see a Rangers Devils game. I can't wait till the 25th I'm going to a Devils-Sabers game.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

The last Ranger-Devil game I went to was awesome. It was in the Garden and we got the Devils chant going!

It was so funny, I changed seats to a different area and these two guys were sitting in front of me all quite. The Devils scored and they didn't do anything until I jumped up screaming.

That's one of my favorite rivalries in sports. I just hate that when you go to a Devils Rangers game in NJ that it's like a 60/40 split in fans.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

Game 6 was Messier's trick. Matteau put it away in game 7.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

Yeah, it was 7 then. Mattau, Mattau! The announcer kept screaming it. Man, I was broken hearted.

I remember writing a report on Messier that year. I read a very intresting article about the influence he had on that team. The things he did to change, even in the locker rooms to make them more of a team. Without him they wouldn't have won the cup that year. It'd still be 1940.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

Many people forget the Rangers' solid defense in 1994...on offense as well. Leetch was just in his prime, and what many forget is that Sergei Zubov led the team in points.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

You know I still have that Game 7 (or did we lose in 6) Rangers Devils on tape from '94. Broke my heart.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

Actually Beukeboom is my all time favorite Ranger defenseman...guess I just forgot him! He would have played a few more years until Matt Johnson sucker punched him in like 97...

Domi was not around for 93-94, he was before that. They did have Joey Kocur, another crazy fighter though

jp jpOG 2003 ·

The Rangers have a bunch of superstars and no defense. And they're too old. Unfortunately, Messier is going to retire after this year, because he and Leetch are two of the old guys worth having. Maybe the rest aren't OLD, but they are past their prime. Case in point, Jagr, Lindros, Bure. And the other players who have been All Stars are way too inconsistent as Rangers, like Nedved and Kovalev. When you look at the 94 Rangers, they had beautiful team chemistry. You had tough wingers like Adam Graves and Steve Larmer, who could put the puck in the net, young gun Alexei Kovalev, the grizzled confident vets like Messier and Glenn Anderson, the solid D with Leetch, Kevin Lowe, and Sergei Zubov, and solid role players like Nemchinov, Tikkanen, MacTavish, and Matteau. And solid goaltending with my all time favorite goalie, Mike Richter, and my all time favorite backup goalie, Glenn Healy.

Now we have a bunch of superstars who can't co-exist on the ice. That's why our best line usually includes a group of blue collar guys like Holik, Messier, Lundmark, and Barnaby.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 ·

back in 94...my favorite (who you left out for some reason...whyyyy?) was definitely beukeboom. crazy guy, just hittin everyone, and didn't really care.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yeah all the players they have gotten are past their prime. Not that they are bad but just not anywhere near as good as they once were. They just can't seem to play with each other either. I think they all just want to be the star and that causes problems as well. They just have no chemistry when they play. I think the Rangers should start from square one and start rebuilding their team instead of getting all these old all-stars. They aren't going to go anywhere if they keep doing that.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Yay. The snow in the hockey rink has finally melted. Since the other cong. that shares my hall has the CO visit we had our meeting tonight and don't have one tomorrow so we are going to play tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait to play.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

the best goalie fight ever started off with pj stock and mariusz czerkawski, when pj was a ranger and mariusz an isle (still is...anyway). PJ first kicked the crap out of marisz, then isles goalie tommy salo came over to stick up for mariusz, and the rangers dan cloutier came over and absolutely unloaded on salo. absolutely pummelled him.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

Yes I did know that Dunham was the Devils backup as a very young player, when the Rangers were actually half-decent (97 or so, their last playoffs year.) Brodeur is a very good goalie, but i'm just wondering what the big deal is about him. Richter, with that defense, I believe would have been even better than Brodeur, I think he was a better goalie, at least in his prime. The Devils have very good defensemen...they would have had Stevens, Niedermayer, and Rafalski in the All-Star game if Stevens wasn't hurt, and only Niedermayer and Rafalski really for the offense as well...so when you have d-men getting in on defense alone you got some good defensemen, especially when you know the fans want offense. Plus Neider and Rafalski are very good defensive defensemen.

Anyway, most shutouts per season, Brodeur does not have it. In fact he's not even close. He'd have to get 22, which George Hainsworth set in the 20's (forget year), in 44 games too. Finished with a 0.98 GAA I believe. Pretty sick, half your games you get a shutout! Tony Esposito, I think, holds the record for the last 50 years or whatever, and Sawchuk has the career shutout record with I think 103.

The Rangers are just stupid, I hate Sather. He doesn't understand we need defense. now he wants to trade our #1 prospect, DEFENSEMAN Fedor Tyutin, for the 1000 year old Sean Burke. Ugh.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

Dunam actually played for the US Hockey Team before the Devils picked him up. As I said, Brodeur is talked about so much because he's compared to Roy, in just about every category.

Saying Richter in his prime was better then Broduer in his prime I don't know. Richter was a sick goalie in his hay day, and the Rangers did have a good team in the early 90's. After Gartner left the Rangers I felt the pressure off as a Devils fan, he was the real Devils killer. But I think you're right, if you take Richter and throw him on the Devils teams from the past few years, he would have been even better.

And I have to agree about Sather, the guy shouldn't be around anymore, he's destroying the Rangers organization.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

Do u think Jagr is a good addition to the team?

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

Yeah, they need something in there. They're just sorry right now.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

No. One of the problems the Ranger have is their team is just to old and their chemistry is not so great. Their team on paper is pretty good but their team is just to old and the guys they've gotten just can't seem to get the hang of playing with one another. they need to get some good younger talent.

jp jpOG 2003 ·

I don't bash the devils...they are very good at what they do...and what they do is win, but also make hockey extremely boring to watch. I do bash their goalie... Martin Brodeur, talk about the most overrated goalie in hockey. The Devils' defense is amazing, I'm so sick of hearing Brodeur this and Brodeur that...if he played on the Rangers he would be splitting time with Dunham, he's about as good as Mike Dunham. He's an average NHL goalie with a Hall of Fame defense in front of him. Watching the Rangers with Richter in his last few years, there is no doubt that Richter was a better goalie. He had no defense and made the most spectacular saves I have ever seen. C'mon, Brodeur's backups, Corey Schwab, and Scott Clemmensen have lower GAA's than him. Schwab has a 0.68 GAA or something like that, and Clemmensen got a shutout in the only game he played this year. I can't stand Martin Brodeur and how he's so "great," the only thing he's an All-Star at is cheating on his wife with his wife's sister.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

Ok, you obviously have NO IDEA of what your talking about. The only hall of fame defensemen in front of Brodeur now are Stevens and Niedermeyr. Richter was a great goalie, and he did have a great team in front of him, well in '94 anyway, but he's no Brodeur.

You need to look at stats. Patrick Roy is the best goalie to have played the game. Brodeur is talked about so much because he's on track to break all of Roy's records. Roy has won 4 cups (2 in Montreal 2 in Colorodo) while Martin has 3 already (all in NJ). I don't have the time right now, but I did in the past sit down and compare all the stats between the two. Broduer will break all of Roy's records, watch, it will happen. Most shutouts per season, I think he might already have.

You can't rag on Brodeur, he's one of the best to play that position. He's still young and has plenty of time to catch up to Roy, especially since Roy isn't playing any more.

Face it, the Rangers suck, and now they went out and picked up Jagr and they still can't score a goal. You're just jealous. :P /jk

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

I think you're being a little harsh there.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

although i agree its a little harsh, but i must agree, Roy is one of the games BEST goalies ever!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Defenitly he was amazing. If I could make up my own dream team he would totally be the goalie I picked.

modestjesse modestjesseOG 2004 ·

I'd pick Brodeur over Roy.

Imagine being able to see both of them in their prime head to head? That would have been a good patch up. We did see it but Roy was beyond his prime and Brodeur was just getting into it.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

I did see a fight between Roy and Osgood....there's nothing like a fight after a good game between the 2 goalies - center ice!

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Oh yeah the bog bad rangers whp have scored .3 more goals per game than the Devils and lost almost twice as many games. Im sure it's much more exciting watching your team lose over and over and over year in and year out. On top of that the rangers have also given up 1 more goal per game more than the Devils that really causes an exciting game watching that.
I appriate the fact that your sticking with your team dispite the rough period they are going through but don't be bashing on a team just because they don't get the credit or recognition they deserve.

One of the main reasons we play at outdoor rinks is because there are so many and it's free to play there. The one thing that stinks is that in the summer when it's really hot it's hard to play and if you do you die.

I didn't say there isn't any but we play friendly games. You start checking and going at each other and someone is bound to go overboard or get mad. I just check myself into the boards from time to time just to get the real hockey experience.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 · dgiaimo

EXACTLY! That's why i never want to join a girls league, you get penalized for EVERYTHING! Not for me....

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·

yeah there are a lot of highsticks though. everyone gets hurt enough even when there isn't a lot of checking. however, i must say i was amazed when josh took jimmy down-a guy like twice his size. jimmy needs to get checked more.

perrin perrinOG 2004 · beachbum

Yeah that was in a aword amazing. I thought Josh was going to get leveled. Maybe Jimmy is just getting old. The only way to stop him is to take the body.

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 · perrin

yeah, that was like the mantra-take the body. i didn't feel like getting killed though.

perrin perrinOG 2004 · beachbum

Come on Janine getting killed is all part of the game.

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·

yeah my brothers are the hardest on me sometimes. bill is such a stinkin ox

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

lol. It's pretty funny when it's your own brothers who take you out 9 out of 10 times. Then other people throw themselves to the ground to keep from knocking you over. Of course I enjoy throwing myself to the ground so I guess that's different.lol.

beachbum beachbumOG 2002 ·

most of the time i just run into everyone else and knock myself over. but yeah, i know. and they are like a herd of moose. i bet they are just getting me back for beating them all up when they were younger. although it's pretty funny if i come back after them they scream and run away.

perrin perrinOG 2004 · beachbum

Yeah like yesterday when Billy was running away from you and you were chasing after him and I grabbed your hood to stop you. That was so funny.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 ·

i do! but all my friends play halo instead now.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

Bah. Hockey is way more fun than any video game could ever be. There is nothing quite like hockey. No game gives you a rush quite like hockey.

omegatweeter omegatweeterOG 2003 ·

i would if i knew how to skate haha.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 ·

you can learn when you come visit. something else for a crazy weekend.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

The only reason I even learned to skate was because of hockey. It's actually easier to learn to skate playing hockey than just learning to skate on it's own. The hockey stick in your hands really helps you keep your balance.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002 ·

people say that - i say, that's ridiculous, if you can't skate, holding a long wooden object doesn't help anything.

perrin perrinOG 2004 ·

It does. It gives you almost like a third leg to use to keep your balance. It gives you more leverage.

omegatweeter omegatweeterOG 2003 ·

ahh cool! kinda like a sword!
