A-ROD A YANKEE

jp by jpOG 2003 · Feb 14, 2004 · 148 views

Alex Rodriguez has been traded to the Yankees for 2B Alfonso Soriano. A-Rod, probably the best player in baseball, will probably move to 3B and Jeter will continue to play SS.

Baseball has become a very annoying sport. Teams anymore just buy their way to wins. There is no team loyalty and no team development. It's so annoying. I barely pay attention to baseball anymore for the fact that it just annoys me so badly.

I love the Yankees and I love the fact that it's part of the oldest rivalries in sports. Season hasn't even begun and we're taking shots at each other. This excerpt was taken from http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylc=X3oDMTBpcDBuM2RlBF9TAzk1ODYxNzc3BHNlYwN0aA--?slug=ap-redsoxvsyankees&prov=ap&type=lgns

Both teams spent the offseason adding stars. The Red Sox nearly got A-Rod, too, but couldn't work out the financial aspects -- the Yankees had no such money problems.

``There is really no other fair way to deal with a team that has gone so insanely far beyond the resources of all the other teams,'' Henry said in an e-mail to reporters.

Responded Steinbrenner: ``Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston.''

``It is understandable, but wrong that he would try to deflect the accountability for his mistakes on to others and to a system for which he voted in favor,'' Steinbrenner said.

Commissioner Bud Selig got involved and quickly told the teams to stop the sniping.

as long as this line up scores 2000 runs this season.. i'm not too worried. but if that doesn't happen.. ugh.. our pitching sucks. but if we get MADDUX too. that'd be hot

Yes I like it but I feel right now they need to be worrying more about pitching. We recently lost two of the best pitchers in the game to Houston. I'm concerned about the bullpen more then the fielding or batting right now.

Soriano is a great player and still has plenty of potential. But this addition will definetly make things interesting. I wouldn't assume that they'll put A-Rod on 3rd, they should both compete for the SS position. May the best man win. I personally feel Jeter belongs in SS though.
