yay for gym class
I was a big gym tryer in school. I LOVED gym (wasn't too keen on changing in front of my classmates). These were my favorite activites in no particular order:
Basketball
Flag football
Ultimate frisbee
Golf
Archery
Badmitton
Volleyball
Ping Pong
Snorkeling
Canoeing
I really hated self defense. In order to demo how to kick some dudes butt, the teacher asked me to straddle him in front of the whole class. I never liked the varsity girls soccer coach after that, smarmy nasty man. I thought I was heavy and would hurt him. I was red as a beet and wanted to whip out a switchblade from my gym sock.

I hated gym class. I faked sick or injury on a regular basis, just to get out of it. Until I got to high school, like, 11th or 12th grade. Then I took weight lifting classes, which I loved. But no volleyball or rope climbing or crap like that.
However, I rocked at chin-ups. And when you have to hold your chin above the bar as long as you can. I held it up longer than most guys in my class. Of course, that was 6th grade....a lot has changed since then.
i luved archery! one of my friends shot the PE teacher in the booty one time! it was HSYTERICAL! thank goodness she was ok though....
badmitton was fun....
also 2 words....DODGE BALL....
Two words. Wall Ball. lol
Wall Ball was so great to play.
whats wall ball? is it hand ball?
Yeah I think so. Pretty much the same I think.
The loser has to do Butts up?
i've never played handball....
what's butts up??? sounds pretty funny....
Hand ball is different, much different. Handball is more like raquetball but you only use your hands, but scoring is the same.
Wall ball or Butts Up is played like this. Random amount of people play, so long as there are two or more. The way it works is a person throws the ball at the wall someone else tries to catch it. If they try to catch it but they drop it they have to run to the wall and touch the wall before someone else throws the ball to the wall. If the runner gets to the wall he's safe. If he doesn't and the ball hits the wall first he has to go up to the wall facing it and stand there. Then every other player gets to whip the ball at him. That's why it's called Butts Up.
It's a great game and I'd love to play it anytime. We used to play it in high school and even in middle school any chance we got. There are no winners or loosers, just welts left around. :)
that sounds like SO much fun!!!
so does that mean that spike runs INTO the wall instead....LOL
At times. :P
It's a blast to play, although it can hurt. :)
Either play with a raquetball or a tennis ball. The raquetball tends to sting a bit more. :)
Actually you can either hit the wall before they touch it or you can peg them with the ball. Pegging was always more fun. lol
four sure bets this summer, four ezabel events. an ezabel beach party, an ezabel co-ed basketball game, and an ezabel wall-ball/dodge-ball event and more MANHUNT. but, yeah, wall ball, awesome game. never played it with the "butts up" penalty. we just had erring players thrown out, singling out a winner.
Butts up is sooooooo much more fun. lol
we'll play it butts up AND you're out too. and girls hit other girls only.
That's the way to do it. lol
I ROCKED at dodge ball!! BY FAR, my favorite thing to do in gym class. I was like lightning...movin' so fast, no one could see me, until it was TOO LATE!!!
did u see the new movie with ben stiller? it's called dodge ball with vince vaughn, I can't wait!
friday was my last day of gym :'( cuz now i have health 4th marking period. but i did all these in high school: football, basketball, softball, wiffleball, capture the flag, weight room, badmitton, floor hockey, kickball, speedball, dodgeball, volleyball, frisbee, ping pong. on friday's (or the last day of the week) we always have free-day, and you can do either basketball, volleyball, knock hockey, ping pong, badmitton, weight room, or go outside if the weather's nice and walk around the track. i always did either volleyball or basketball, basketball's more intense. we had physical fitness tests too. i think on the 50meter dash i got 6.9 seconds.
how do you play capture the flag!!?!?! we need some rules people!!
I only know how to play CTF with paintball markers.
paintball markers?? explain. we can get some of those. we need some decent capture the flag rules.
Alright, theres really two ways to play CTF. First off you have two teams, lets say 5 on 5. In both games you have two home bases, one for each team on opposite sides of each other.
In the first scenario you'll have two flags, one at each base. At the begining of the game the object is to capture the flag of the other team and return it to your base. If you get shot you're out. If you get shot and you're carrying the flag you drop the flag where you went down. The first team to capture the flag wins. Now in some cases you might need to have both flags on your base in order to win. So you could capture their flag but need to get your flag back. That's not typically the way its done but can make for an interesting game.
The other way is to have one flag placed in the middle of the field. First team to capture the flag and return it to their base wins.
If you ever really want to play I suggest getting a group together to go to Top Gun which is in Jackson, practically across the street from Great Adventure. I haven't been there in years but its a blast there. They've got a few out door fields. And if you're really in the mood to try something fun press your luck in the speedball arena. It's a lot of fun and you'll get better really quick.
oh. you meant REAL paintball. i thought you meant markers on the ground, like, to show how big the field was.
we can't play stuff with guns, because we are not people of war. BOO YAH. instead we can have my mom make us ice tea.
They're not guns, they're called markers. Boo YA! hehe, if you do the research they're called markers because they were first developed by lumberjacks. They would have to mark trees to be cut down. They figured it was quicker to shoot them with paint out of a gun, thus introducing the paintball marker.
They then began horsing around and shooting each other which was the begining of the sport of paintball.
i mark YOU for death!
I am intrigued..but I think we were going for just finding some random field and not playing at a real place.
Yeah, that's what a few people I know do. I know a few decent places to play for free.
I'm actually trying to sell all my paintball stuff, I don't play anymore.
Gym was by far my favorite class. No matter what we did I always gave it a 110%, even if I sucked at it. I enjoyed running the track, that was always fun. I loved hockey, football, and baseball the best though.
I miss those days, I'm so out of shape now.
Oh, and I loved the rope climb! I was pretty good at that.
In my school they actually had golf as a Gym activity starting in 5th grade. How crazy is that.
crazy dangerous
Dangerous? How is it dangerous?
We played tennis..that was dangerous. It was especially dangerous because the tennis court was surrounded by the teachers parking lot..we hit an awful lot of cars.
Thats awesome, imagine if you would have actually gotten into it at that age, you'd be really good by now.
True but why play golf when you can play hockey. lol
Its like this. When your old you won't be able to play hockey at the same level as you do now. BUT you'll be able to play golf BETTER then you're able to play now. That's why. ;)
Golf is just not for me. I'll keep playing hockey till it kills me. lol
I'm with you! BUT there are SO many hockey players that LOVE hockey!!! look at happy gilmore for instance....LOL
I was talking to an old friend of mine, actually we happened to play golf together on Saturday. Anyway he plays in some league out here. His team sponsored a charity game, they played Devils Alumni. He said it was pretty cool, they lost 7 - 4 but they had to use the rinks owners' son for a period who wasn't that good. I forget all that was there but I do know Fetisov, Driver, and Chico (forget his last name) was there.
that is SO cool!!!! the hockey players really get into their golf....the kings and dux hold golf charity events every june and september
Yeah for sure. Hockey rules!!!!!!! There is no comparison between hockey and golf that's for sure.
No one said there was. They're two different sports, I love to play them both but can only watch one. :P
Oh man golf is so horrible to watch. How can people sit there and watch it. It is so boring you might as well go outside and watch grass grow. Man so boring.
LOL....there's one sport that can BORE me to tears....BASEBALL, by like the middle of the first inning i'm all whiny and irritable....LOL
Oh man Baseball isn't anywhere near as bad as golf. Come on. I know it's not a great sport to watch but it's not that bad.
*sharpens all the #2's*
Come here... ;)
This year I'm actually getting into watching some baseball games. Its mainly because I joined a fantasy baseball league for fun. But I'm really getting into it, its not as bad as I thought.
gym in middle school was like dodge ball, volleyball, or softball.... then all the sudden, you go to highschool and you do real stuff haha now we have swimming, aerobics, archery, badmitton, golf, all these crazy things... the best is project adventure which is like problem solving kindda.. like you get a box and have to fit as many people on it as possible... we also do trust falls and climb walls and stuff... that is mad fun
yeah, project adventure. crazy stuff. i'm still recovering from that. had to throw out one or two pairs of stained shorts. heh.
hah the box one was always funny cus we had this real hefty kid in my gym class and he was like guys i don't have to do this one, but we were like jorge you can do it!
We had a project adventure but all it involved was lots of trust falls (hahah...we dropped our teacher once, so funny!) and passing people through the holes in this spider web thingy..they all lifted me up real high and tossed me through!
Woah..you had golf, archery, snorkeling, and coneing for gym? All I had was "101 ways to play tag" aka "Esteem Building Class"
word. we played basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, ran on the track, did sit up and stuff. it was pretty cool actually. i loved gym.
