Fantasy Football 2004

jp by jpOG 2003 · Jul 24, 2004 · 163 views

Here's a thread to talk sleepers, top players, and potential busts in the fantasy football game. Also, I have one more spot open in my very competitive, all-Witness league at Yahoo. Please message me if you're interested in playing, we just need one more.

Prediction for top players at each position for next season...

QB: Peyton Manning. I've had him on my fantasy team each of the last two years and I've loved having such a reliable QB. People love the panache of McNabb and Vick, but I'll take the reliability and consistency of Manning.

RB: Clinton Portis. Holmes will slow down, albeit not by much (still 15+ TD's). But Portis will enjoy his breakout season. 1500 yards 2 seasons in a row not "broken out" enough? Well, with the Redskins' good line and Gibbs at the helm, the future megastar who is still only 22 years old and averaged 122 yards per game last season, will cash in even bigger. Watch out for a 2000 yard season soon. Nobody gets that many touches and averages such a high yards per carry (5.5 for the second straight year) since Barry Sanders. And he is quickly becoming my favorite running back since Sanders, as well.

WR: Randy Moss. I love Marvin Harrison, and he's been my #1 ranked WR the past few seasons, but Moss is just entering his prime...27 years old...scary huh? Harrison is 32. Both will come up huge again, but I expect Moss to have another great year with 100+ catches.

TE: Jeremy Shockey. I love Shockey, and his attitude and skill will make for a breakout third season. With Eli Manning at the helm for his first season and a weak line, the Giants will probably be looking to their reliable short options. Enter the tight end, and man, do the Giants have a good one. The deciding factor about Shockey? Health. Can he stay healthy the whole season? He's only 24, look for this to be his biggest season yet if he can stay on the field.

K: Mike Vanderjagt. The NFL's all time leader in field goal percentage had another huge season in 2003, and with the Colts' diesel offense, expect another season filled with field goal and point after oppurtunities.

here's my list of best fantasy players for this year:

QB: Manning, nobody does it as consistently
RB: Tomlinson, even with a lousy team around him puts up monster numbers. (Ahman Green is my second pick here and Holmes will also enjoy a solid season)
WR: Randy Moss, no question. no WR finds the endzone like this guy
TE: I'm gonna go with Shockey here, I think he can rebound from his injuries and put up great numbers. (Also, look out for Kellen Winslow!)
K: I guess i'll go with vineteri here. great kicker, as consistent as they come.
