Wedding Customs Revealed
I know we've discussed some wedding traditions on here before, but especially with the slew of weddings going on in the next few months, I thought this article on wedding customs was pretty interesting
I particularly like the one about throwing socks at the groom. I think we should reinstitute that practice, say in September.

why in september?? are you getting married yet AGAIN??
yes, you caught me! I'm really the Arab w/ 50 fiancees. I know some people getting married in sept. that i would like to throw socks at, OKAY!
awww, janine, its ok, i know you love me... you need to find other ways to show your love instead of all this violence...
June was named for Jupiter i thought
i've read that, too
In mythology Juno is Jupiter's wife, so maybe someone got it mixed up
yeah janine, i think you are right. the original 10 month calendar was based on other greek Gods and then september (7), october (8), november (9), december (10). then july (for julius caesar) and august (for augustus caesar) were added. what they told me in astronomy was that the original 7 days of the week were named after heavenly bodies, it's pretty interesting, read about it here.
this stuff is pretty neat remember the talk on the school about the calendar a few weeks back
hmmm...interesting stuff.
hahaha, katies gonna flip when she sees this... good going janine.. shes gonna hate you lol
why?? i didn't say i wanted to throw socks at HER...
hahah. i love the part in cajun culture where if you had older unmarried brothers or sisters, they had to dance at the wedding with a broom to show their single status. and then later dance on a hog's trough.
