British Talent

Okay the question was asked What talent in the Thespian and film world has Britian produced, and well my comment became too long so here is the answer!

Why on earth do you think Hugh Grant was sent to you??? as a gift of our gratitude or something??? i think not - HE WAS REJECTED, vomited like luke warm water from our country's pool of fabulous British Thespians such as Catherine Zeta Jones, Micheal Caine, Daniel Day-Lewis, Griff Rhys-Jones, Sean Bean, Rupert Everett, Kate Winslet oh and you want Heart Throbs how about Ewan McGregor, Ralph and Joseph Fiennes, Jude Law and debatably Pierce Brosnan.

As for british films well i have one word for you --- BOND!!!!!! But there are so many Monty Python(s), The Carry on films, The Italian Job Yellow Submarine, who could forget St Trinians - all classics! Then more recently we have had the like of Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Full Monty, The Beach, Angela's Ashes, Chicken Run, Anna Karenina, Eyes Wide Shut, Sliding Doors, About a boy and the Harry Potter films (not that i would watch them), and such cult fims as human traffic and trainspotting.

My favourtie British fil of all time is Shooting Fish, absolute classic "all praise to the quick release trousers" cracks me up everytime. Infact My Kingdoma dn 51st state are two pretty good british films based in my home town of good old Liverpool.

Now i am not trying to compete with America's Mass acclaim of films and Thespians, for a start you are a MUCH bigger country, but i am just trying to point of that for a Small Island we have had our fair share of talent - and remember no one is better than the other, we just do things in a different way, and our films tend to become classics and have a very different style of humour etc.

Well erm i guess there you go

i love black adder its so funny, one word....Baldrick!!! lol

skaorsk8 #1.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

that is pure quality, i saw this black adder at hte millenium dome that they never showed on tv, it was hyserterical...(ok i know going to the dome was a typical american thing to do, it was pretty gay after all that effort of going to london and dealing with those stupid cockneys)

beachbum #1.1.2 beachbumOG 2002

hahahaha, baldrick! yes! man, i wish i could find a tape or dvd set of all the episodes. i haven't seen it in so long. great stuff.

hunkpapap #1.1.2.1 hunkpapapOG 2003

I have the complete boxed vhs set. Baldrick i'm too tired, just run into my fist....

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

you do?? word you're bringing that over my house so we can drink and watch that

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

no way!! where did you get it??

thefunkyfresh #1.1.3 thefunkyfreshFounder

"if you want something done right first kill baldrick and then do it yourself"

skaorsk8 #2 skaorsk8OG 2002

you know what...i absolutely HATTTTTE hugh grant. that stupid blinking thing he does...with his eyebrows where he tries to look "perplexed"...is that supposed to be "cute" or something? WHAT A LOSER!!! seriously.

as an aside..i did laugh a lot at "two weeks notice". actually, i almost choked a few times. but other than that, i still hate him.

beachbum #2.1 beachbumOG 2002

i hate hugh grant also-he is so femme and ugh ewwwwwwww..that's all i can say. i can't even believe you watched "2 weeks notice"

skaorsk8 #2.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

you know what, you would like it because hugh grant is completely not himself. and he also never blinks. but he does dance. which is amusing.

beachbum #2.1.1.1 beachbumOG 2002

i would hate it b/c it's a "chick flick" and i want to smack sandra bullock in her annoying face.

malibu malibuOG 2001

awww. i love sandra bullock. maybe b/c she's from jersey. but i think she's so funny. they made a good couple. and then i saw them in interviews and i was still laughing so hard.

thatdarngirl #2.2 thatdarngirlOG 2002

I thought Two Weeks Notice was funny though I didn't expect it to be.

malibu #2.3 malibuOG 2001

ya know what? you shouldn't watch movies for the people that are in them... you should go for the story and how their characters act. that's what makes it great.

skaorsk8 #3 skaorsk8OG 2002

aaand. while we're on the subject...catherine zeta jones had her baby in ridgewood, at valley hospital, right next to where i grew up for 10 years of my life. now i live down the road from there. i could have met her. and told her t-mobile's data plans are pretty darn good.

skaorsk8 #4 skaorsk8OG 2002

hmm i seem to have a lot to say. i think your most talented actor would be michael caine, for (of course) the original italian job (a self preservation society) and also "dirty rotten scoundrels", which my sister has watched at every sleepover she's ever had. (which is odd).

N
#4.1 nine9starOG 2001

don't think we ever watched it when we stayed over, reckon we were too busy fighting over lisence to kill or whatever that game was! But Micheal Caine is amazing i love that guy "not allota people know dat" ha ha stinkin hilarious

fivezero #5 fivezeroOG 2003

i have to admit the Beach was good. Boyle is a good director. what about the Chris Nolan directed Guy Pierce flick, Memento? AMAZING. i think Guy Richie is a genius too! i love Vinnie Jones. i love Sean Bean and Dougrey Scott. and as for SEXIEST brit star ever? RADE SHERBEDGIA anyone? look up that guy and swoon. he's the best as Boris the Blade aka Boris the Bullet Dodger!

skaorsk8 #5.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

i do not appreciate you not including me in the sexiest brit star ever. not that i'm british. or sexy. but you could have at least included me as an equal opportunity candidate.

rocksupastar #5.1.1 rocksupastarFounder

why? your gay...

skaorsk8 #5.1.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

dude- don't confuse me with you and your next door neighbor with his door always open.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

hahaha, hes creepy...

N
#5.1.2 nine9starOG 2001

sorry we didnt have that category open, but if we do, as a subsequent date, open that category we will be sure to keep you in mind - however i have to warn you that there is stiff competition world wide for the renouned title of Mr "Not british, nor sexy".

skaorsk8 #5.1.2.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

hahahahahha that was pretty funny

forrestina #6 forrestinaOG 2002

i just saw bend it like beckham...i found it so funny-not sure if it was because of the british people or the indian ones

T
#6.1 toxicgirlOG 2003

i wanted to see that movie, i love soccer. but i don't like david beckham as a player, i am a michael owen fan.

skaorsk8 #6.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

theremin thereminOG 2002

We need too. America doesn't have any worthy footie teams.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

what about the metrostars?? that's a quality team!! (kidding, kidding)

T
toxicgirlOG 2003

american teams??? take a gander at alexi lalas, a player who looks like carrot top on crack. and soccer fans wonder why its not a more popular sport.

forrestina #6.1.2 forrestinaOG 2002

it's still playing by me for 4 bucks!

theremin #6.2 thereminOG 2002

I had to drive about 40 minutes north to see it, but it was worth it.

delliott101 #7 delliott101OG 2002

I love British entertainment... Doctor Who was awesome, Monty Python, Are You Being Served, etc... many highly successful classic US TV shows are based on British shows (Three's Company, All in the Family, Friends and others)... The most successful film series, James Bond, is British through and through... not a bad record!

OH! Johnny English is playing... starring Rowan Atkinson. HE'S a legendary British comic actor! Can't forget HIM!

togatweeter #8 togatweeterOG 2003

Black Knight - "Tis but a scratch."

Arthur - "A scratch? Your arm's off!"

Black Knight - "No, it isn't."

skaorsk8 #8.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

but how could a one pound swallow carry a 5 pound coconut??

malibu #9 malibuOG 2001

ooh Jude Law. just the commercials for the talented Mr. Ripley freaked me out. i think its cuz he could just portray that scary character so easily and it drove me crazy. he seems so sinister.

thatdarngirl #9.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

He is so hott..well maybe not in Gatica but he's hot.
