Pull an all nighter.

bozo by bozo · Aug 15, 2003 · 107 views · Journal

So 4 weeks ago I was working 3 days a week and lovin it. My company decided they want to offer me a full time possition with one hitch....3rd shift. Show up at work at 10pm work till 6am. I have never done this before, but being strapped for cash, I said yes, I will do it. So this is the last day of my 4th week.

Its not that bad. The work is the same, but the atmosphere totally different. During the day all the big-shots are walking around, sometimes giving tours and deadlines come alot faster. So there is a lot more stress. This shift there are only 6 people in the building, our deadlines aren't until 9am, so if we don't finish the guys that come in at 6am can finish for us. There is a lot more of a relaxed type of feel which I totally vibe with, and we have a working supr. and he hardly wants to work himself. ha. but we get more done then any other shift.

So the work isn't so bad. Whats bad is outside of work. I sleep from 6.30am till about 2-2.30pm. Then the gym, then either meetings, or hang out. Thats ok, but come the weekend, I have some serious trouble. I am up all night sat night, I missed the morning meeting the first week. This past week I sleept thru both meetings. Then sunday night I can't sleep till 6 am. My service time is shot! I'm having some serious issues with tring to get time and sleep in all at once. So this is what I'm doing Today. Its sat morning at 3.15am, I'm going to go home and meet with the early morning group at 7am. try to go out till about noon, then crash for 4 hours then sleep sat night then the morning meeting sunday, maybe service then, maybe a nap. But then I got company. Then try to sleep sunday night, and get up for service monday.

So bassically my situation is terrible right now. I've been praying about maybe getting a new job maybe or what ever is for the best. As for the point of this journal.... I just felt like talkin about it. And maybe get some pity. haha, well not that but, I do accept CashMoney. So now that you are bored with my sob story I will end it with asking you to join me in "Pulling and all nighter."

what on earth is CashMoney? Is that a special kind of funding that PBS provides? Because they are forever calling me and asking me to buy a tote bag.

Anyway, you seem to be some kind of newbie on here (haha just kidding), but I hope everythign works out. If your parents kick you out, you can always move in with Mike and Jon.

This is a long one

uh, I know how you feel bran. When I worked the 2nd shift, I would get home at midnight, but I'd have energy till 4am, then I'd go to sleep wake up at 2:00 or so, get showered, go to work at 4pm, and start all over. I never saw my friends, my service time dropped dramatically (pioneering was one of my motivating forces for working the 2nd shift. I figured I could pioneer during the day, work the night, and go home and sleep. It didn't work out.) Not only did my service drop, but I started going to Hackettstown meetings and our own, I left the ministry school, and was really getting worn down by the worldly kids I had to deal with at work. Those were definately not good days. Anyway, I feel for ya, man, keep praying, something will come around, if it is Jehovah's will(why wouldn't it be his will, especially if you'd do better spiritually if you worked a day job, right?)

that's pretty rough. the people i know who worked the 3rd shift didn't go to sleep when they got home. they did their shopping, service, whatever. then they crashed until before the meeting (nite mtgs). weekends are a little whacked. i hope it works out for ya. i had a paper route for five years where i got up at 3am, 365/366 days a year! i went from the route straight to my 9-6 job. (for six months i went from there to my 6:30 - midnight job, but that's another story...) i'm sure Jehovah will show you the way...
