A Wetsuit Weekend
by This long weekend I'm going to be in North Carolina, the outer banks for some cold NOvember surfing. Should be interesting to see how the island looks after the hurricane. Hope for big (and nicely formed) waves and not too cold weather!

The OBX is like my second home. I know that place inside and out-I love it there. I have a lot of friends down there and I can go for free whenever I want. And yeah, my parents own a house down there too. Our house wasn't damaged, it was hit or miss. Anyhow, HAVE FUN!!! (I went in November a couple years ago, it was the coldest November they ever had-I hope its nice for you).

I love the Outer Banks. That's where I want to live one day, but it's kind of dangerous with those hurricane things coming and destroying houses.

Hopefully you can go to the Kingdom Hall, a couple of brothers work in the surf shop (I think it's Bert's surf shop). Maybe they can hook you up. And I have some friends in that hall who are big surfers...travis, jesse, and sarah. Good ppl.

if you are austin, you most definitely are. I have groups of friends in different geographical locations and they all seem to know you. (I am friends with all the Lancaster boys, and I am friends with Dave).

It's the best thing ever! I'm not anywhere near being very good..I could barely stand on the board, but I can't wait to try again! Everyone loves snowboarding..but I can totally see surfing as my thing.
it just seems like surfing may be scarier, because you can get hurt worse
See..it's the opposite in my mind. I think snowboarding is a lot faster and scarier, I feel very safe in the water for the most part. I mean..the surf board landing on my head did hurt a lot but that's why you never surf alone!
i guess i'm just scared because of heard of people getting cut up in reefs
I dont think the jersey shore has that many reefs... so when i go surfing, im not worried about that, i think the gettin slammed into the sand would hurt a bit...
Only thing I am scared of are sharks; Water , Reef, Sand Breaks , Yada Yada,, But sharks, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKk
i think it's so much harder than snowboarding and i feel a little more scared cuz i know people who have gotten seriously injured by their boards. but it sucks cuz there are no really good surf spots close by anymore and conditions aren't always too cooperative.
Manasquan Inlet has been pretty desant this year, especially when we had all that hurricane weather.. even still, it's not bad!!
Ok, im back. Glad to be home, good surfing though. First day was GREAT, warm, 80 degrees out. Then it was 65 and windy on friday, still good surfing. Then yesterday, it was about 60 and more windy. Bad surfing. Bad to stand outside as well. I'm sick now. But it was worth the good 2 days :)
