Life Decisions
So, it’s my senior year of high school and the future is a scary place. I have so much to think about. Colleges and cars and scholarships and so much more. To top it off, my parents are moving and I, well, I'm not. So not only do I have to worry about all the normal stuff, but I have to worry about finding an apartment and paying rent and paying for college and health insurance and worrying if I'm making a big mistake by moving out.
It is very unheard of for a witness kid to move out at 18. I mean, worldly kids leave home at 18 and move into a dorm and that’s that. But witness kids stay home well into their 20’s at which point they get married and THEN move out. The only reason that I can think of to explain this is that it’s stupid to move out at 18. But unfortunately, I really have no choice. Its gonna be rough and I’m sure I will have no spending money and will have to work my butt off just to survive, but I’m gonna do it. I have an apartment to move into in which I will not be paying rent (a real blessing from Jehovah), but its still going to be hard. I’m going to go to a community college for the first 2 years at least. So then I can save up my money and transfer out to get on with my major. That’s not really what I wanted to do, but I just can’t afford to go straight to a 4-year school.
But, I am VERY determined. I know that I can do it and so I’m going to do it-even if it kills me. I was just wondering if any one had any advice for me. Have any of you moved out when you were young? If so, how did you make it work?

YOU CAN DO IT!! :) I moved out when I was 20.. I might have been 19, i duno. I loved living on my own. I did it for about 3.5 years before I got married, and I think it was helpful to really experience what life is all about before getting married. Oh, I was also working almost-full-time and pioneering for one of the years that I had my own place. I had a really crazy schedule, which was good, because I always kept busy. And let me tell you living on your own QUICKLY teaches you about keeping a budget and keeping a household together, even if it's just you. It's a great life lesson in my opinion. Sure, you could save LOADS of money by living at home... but what fun is that? haha
Well. I don't have any advice for you since I'm 24 and still living at home, but are you sure about that statement that witness kids stay at home longer than worldly kids? I remember when we lived in San Diego that a lot of witness kids moved out when they were 18, and the parents really seemed to push that.
It's not done very often with anyone around here to move out. My sister was 20 and that was a big deal.
I'm glad it's not done that way everywhere. My parents claim that other people in the hall that we were in there looked down on me because I still lived with them even though I was entering my twenties. I don't know if that's true, but it's one of the reasons why I'm sometimes hesitant to admit that I still live at home.
Really? That's weird. One brother in our hall was living at home until he was 29..and he is greatly respected.
um yeah hi-move in with me you retard
Hah..yeah at least you know what it's like living with her cause it's your sister and not some person that you think you love as a friend until you live with them.
yep i cook she cleans
That sounds like such an ideal arragement.
tell her, not me
i think my parents might kick me out for being too good at cleaning the bathroom...it's not a skill, it's something i was born with
that is so rare. here at work the women are slobs. just tell me what is so hard about putting the toilet paper roll on the holder??
excuse me, but i live with you..... ive never seen anything that even closely resembles a clean bathroom when you have supposedly "been cleaning it"
maybe he's confused. Hildan, pooping does NOT clean the toilet...

wow mel, i hope things work out good for you. it's a scary world, and i'm gonna consider moving out sometime later too, but we'll manage somehow with Jehovah's help. :D

but if you wanna leave take good care, hope you make a lot of nice friends out there, but just remember there's a lot of bad, and beware, beware,
