Remedies

Do you trust drugs and supplements that aren't regulated by the FDA? Ecinacea is the herb most people are familiar with and take (including myself), but does that make it wise?

I wondered everyone else's opinion because I looked up some info on WebMD and it said that "lysine" supplements would help cold sores, which my boyfriend gets. It then pointed out that since lysine isn't regulated by the FDA, it's best to get it from a reputable source, like GNC or some other trusted pharmacy.

I then google-searched other cold sore medications and treatments and a lot of info from natural health sites came up. I wouldn't order anything online from one of these sites, but if a store that sold it were nearby, I might buy it. Would you?

I know some people swear by these remedies, but I want to know where the line between keeping yourself healthy and being a maniac is. What are your thoughts?

i think just because the FDA approves some pointless things (ie - prozac - everyone and their brother was taking that a few years ago) and doesn't approve or regulate useful herbs, doesn't mean that you have to listen to them...they also say to have 8 servings of carbs per day, but that doesn't help, that's why people go on atkins..haha

by "everybody and their brother" do you really mean "dan hill and his schizophrenic 'other' self?"

no, i mean you and alex. you're brothers. go away. soymilk rules.

Yea, but their approval means that they regulate it. Otherwise, something could slip in. Even a little bit of metals in pills that you take every day could be a problem later in life.

put baking soda on canker sores. it's the only thing that works for me

i hope it works for you and forreste, i get them sometimes and they take for-ever to go away unless i put baking soda on them. just keep putting it on there until they are completely gone, esp right before you go to bed

I have the worst canker sore in the world going on right now. I tried the baking soda and it made my mouth salivate so much I couldn't sleep comfortably. I am still going to keep on trying tho, this thing hurts like hades.

I do too!!!! Only I take asodopholis (that's not how it's spelled..but it sounds like that) because that replaces some type of anti-body in your body or something and helps the cold sore go away.

i think herbs and stuff are better for you for the most part then synthetic medicine. the FDA is in on the conspiracy w/ the gov & pharmacutical cos to sell drugs-they are big business. my dad works for a pharm co and he even says it's all a joke. fight the system.
