phrases i live by
This journal is in honor of three of my favorite phrases. Let me discuss them, one at a time:
"If you don't know, I'm not gonna tell you." - This one is famous, because women have been heard using it (but only in movies or TV shows, generally). I like to use it occasionally when the reason for something doesn't really matter, but I have fun making somebody think I'm really mad at them when I'm really not. Sometimes I need to amuse myself, I guess. Maybe I should play Tetris instead next time. Usually though, this is one of those things that I don't know either, but I don't want to feel stupid, so I say this instead.
"You're better off not knowing." - usually preceded by the words "trust me," which also makes me think of this phrase from an old show called "Sledge Hammer" - "Trust me, I know what I'm doing." This one is also usually for my amusement; either that or I really am trying to protect a friend from something beyond my control. Mostly, my friends just think I'm being a jerk saying this.
"You don't know what you're missing!" - We were talking about this at work today briefly. Somebody at work mentioned they hadn't eaten a Twinkie until a year ago, and that she had never, yes NEVER eaten at Taco Bell. And then it was mentioned that other things besides food can fall into this category, meaning, you really can't miss something until you've experienced it. And in those cases, trust me, you're better off not knowing, lol.
I just like to write these things down for posterity so I can see them once I forget them. Because, I like, forget stuff all the time. All the live long day, forgetting stuff. It's bad news. Bad news bears. haha. Okay, now I'm just getting silly. Time to be over, as I sit with the pitter-patter of sleet on my window . . .
