near death

I know this is long, but if you want some real life drama...

So I found out tonight that your life really does flash before your eyes when you have a near death experience. I wasn't having a great April Fool's day to start off with. I was so glad to be out of work. There I was driving on Route 80 singing along really loud with "Stay Young" by Oasis to lift my spirits. I was on my way to my mechanic to get my oil changed. My car starts slowing down. I'm like wait am I that much of an airhead that I'm breaking instead of accelerating....no...but my speedometer is dropping. So I start to get over to the shoulder so that I can stop. My oil light goes on and I'm thinking-okay so I haven't been keeping on top of my oil and I needed oil like yesterday. So I pull onto the shoulder and exactly at the same moment I put my hazards on and put my car in park-my check engine light goes on. GREAT!

I'm less than a block from a Mobil station so I put a flag on my car and start to get out to walk up the hill to the station. A car pulls over in front of mine. I'm like okay now I'm going to get raped. If I blink my eyes-this car is going to disappear. I blink and open my eyes to see my supervisor walking towards me. She offers to drive me up to the gas station to get the oil. We're right by the exit ramp so we just drive up there. We're waiting behind this tractor trailer with it's hazards on and we're like what's going on here. She backs up and pulls up again to see if she can go around-when she realizes she can't she goes back behind him and we're just waiting. The guy puts it in drive and starts to pull forward. Then he throws it in reverse and starts backing up. My supervisor frantically tries to put her car in reverse but gets freaked out as the guys truck goes on top of her hood. She just kept shouting "We're going to die! He's backing over us." She was honking like crazy, but he wasn't stopping. I was getting ready to bail and he finally stops. He puts his car in reverse goes over the divider and starts to drive away. My coworker gets out of the car (she's a crazy bronx chick) and starts yelling and cursing. Flags down a state trooper in a yukon to go after him.

My supervisor and I just start crying bc we're so overwhelmed. The truck pulls over and the state trooper leaves??? The truckdriver comes over and is being a real jerk to us. We call the cops and the guy says he's going back to his truck to get his paperwork. My supervisor starts digging around for hers and when she finds it walks after him and asks me to stay with her car. Meanwhile, the truck had gotten back on the highway and pulls up next to me and says "Where are the girls? Are the cops here yet?" I say "No they went to find you." As I'm saying it, he peels out and gets on the highway. Hit and run!

So the girls come back flipping out. 15 mins have passed now so we call the cops again. This time a state trooper (and of course even in times of crisis, I was able to notice he was brutally hot) comes and files a report and we hear tons of sirens and hope they got the guy. End of the story is my mechanic comes and tows me and it was some sort of fuse or something that blew...this little thing that connects all my wires to my engine. So they have to replace everything, but it wasn't my stupid fault for not changing the oil AND my engine didn't seize! I'm alive and at my parents house and my sister Summer got me a small vanilla cone from DQ with rainbow jimmies. =D
