by So I finally fouled up real bad at my job and can now walk away and laugh at myself for my own stupidity. Apparently I was joking with some guy who doesn't speak English too well and jokingly said to him "You're fired" and then I was like "hey man im just bustin your chops". Anyways I guess he didn't understand me too well and it got blown up between his company and my company and so I guess I need to watch what I say to the non-english speakers from now on. However the guy realized it was a joke afterwards and now we all sort of bust his chops and say "Hey Ben YOURE FIRED" and it is kind of funny. Just I have that empty laughter I think because I know it got me in trouble. If its one thing that I have a big problem with its my stubborness. Sometimes I come off like I know but I don't know too well. Anyways till next time.

wow! so funny that this happened... i had a similar experience last week! We have a ticketing system that let's you send emails directly from it, however it has a weakness in that you can change the "from" field to any email address. So to bust on somebody else I wrote a note "from" the boss of the helpdesk to another analyst with the subject "just a heads up" and the text "you're fired". Unfortunately it backfired. The kid REPLIED to it, like INSTANTLY. fortunately his reply was "thanks" and not profanity or anything else. Before I could explain to him that it was a joke and get him to recall the message, the boss calls and asks, uh, what's going on here? I had to explain what i did... man did i feel stupid!! fortunately i didn't get in trouble though. phew, close call.
