SoCleanCutDirtyHisHandsComesRightOff
So like there is nothing cooler than driving near a Boeing 747-400 after it lands and the engines are all juiced up and rumbling the earth. Yeah I was doing that yesterday as the British Airways flight landed. Anyways not too much been happening. I am taking off for a week in August to spend it with my gf here. Not really sure what her and me are gonna do. Wish it was winter. I would take her ice skating. Well I know for one thing that I got to get her ring size. I will probably be sneaky about it somehow. Have my sister try on a ring shes wearing or something. Haha then I will probably need some SISTERLY AIDS to help me pick out the right one for her so I can pop the big question in a few months. Any volunteers? hehe

If I lived closer, I would SO help!! But if you need style suggestions, I'm very good at jewelry, and anything to do with weddings (I aspire to be a wedding coordinator), so let me know if you need any help.
Big suggestion...have your sister try the ring on her LEFT hand....my husband tried to be sneaky, and he tried one of my rings on (that I used to wear on my left ring finger), to see where it went on his finger, so he'd remember when he went to pick my ring out), except he put it on his RIGHT hand (and it's common knowledge that your right hand is bigger than your left hand)......long story short, my ring was too big for the first 2 weeks I had it.
What happened after the first two weeks?
I had gotten it resized by then. It fit much better.
eesh. No problemo. Thanks for that good suggestion.
Anytime. I had to wrap string around the underside of it to keep it from sliding off. That's one ring you DON'T want to lose!! (Especially since the big diamond in my engagement ring was from his grandma's wedding ring.)
I dunno, maybe my wife and I are not that traditional, but I enjoyed taking her out and seeing her face light up when she tried on a ring or two. Maybe it wasn't because of the ring since she didn't have any or really like them to begin with. Maybe it was just because we knew what it was going to mean for the future.
But don't think you lose the element of suprise if you go ring shopping with her. I bought the ring we decided on at a later date when she wasn't around, hid it for a couple weeks. She was clueless. In fact, ring shopping with her helped. She knew she was getting it but then gave up hope when she didn't get it immediately. Hehe oh man that was some great times :)
Sometimes money verse taste is a big issue and helps to discuss openly
That's what I was thinking. Take her ring shopping so she's not totally thrown off guard (and so you know what kind of ring she likes) and then just don't give it to her for a while so she kind of isn't expecting it as much.
Yeah defintely. The anticipation plus the suprise factor
and it woudl be the worst thing ever to buy her a ring that she totally despises...
hmm yeah. I mean she and I have so little in common and so much in common. Its weird. Like we get along so well and its just one of those weird things. Anyways she probably wont get the ring till next year sometime :)
You could start dropping hints and asking questions now (like does she like gold or platinum, what cut would she prefer, etc.), and so she'll think it's coming up soon. Then you could still have the element of surprise, by her not knowing what the ring looks like, and you'll have thrown her off by waiting until....next year, you said? Yeah.
Anyways, if you ask the questions now, she'll think it's coming soon, and then when it doesn't happen, she'll not think about it as much. That's what I was getting at.
yeah well so far i know she doesnt like gold. Neither do I. Gold reminds me of the 1980's and Scrooge McDuck.
My sister doesn't like gold either but she loves copper so my now brother in law actually made her wedding band out of copper for her and she loves it. My point being it doesn't matter what it's made of as long as it's what they are going to like.
hmm intersting. LMO do you have any creative points?
what about platinum? platinum rings are gorgeous!!! i don't like gold but there's something about platinum that can make any ring look gorgeous!
platinum is so much nicer than gold. i just do not like gold. i like the platinum cuz it shines more. white gold is good but it costs too much. and speaking of price, why are diamonds soo much? i'd rather have a nicer honeymoon than a diamond. bands are just as nice.
platinum is very nice, but very expensive. if you are on a limited budget or would rather spend the $$ on a bigger diamond, consider white gold. also, find out what shape of diamond she likes-may be very importante.
This is a good point. My husband got me platinum, and spared no expense. But when I went to get his ring, I was on a slightly tighter budget than he was. So I went with white gold. You really can't tell a difference looking at it, and it was significantly less expensive.
