Cattiness
I’m thinking about getting a purebred cat. It is all the fault of the 9/8 Awake! since I saw this gorgeous African golden cat and found out there is a domestic version called a Chausie. Then I started looking at other pure breeds and now my thoughts are full of cats. (The cats I already have are perfectly loveable, if slightly ordinary, American shorthair/miscellaneous rescued from the street cats.)
I used to think it was a shame to pay for a purebred animal, when there are so many animals that need a good home. These cats are so beautiful though. I’m looking at the Chausie, the Egyptian Mau, the Main Coon, the Ocicat, the Savannah, the Scottish Fold, and the Siberian. The Scottish Fold is the only one that doesn’t have a wildcat look to it. I’m not sure what’s drawing me to that one, since it doesn’t fit in with the others.

Anyway, this is sort of a moot point since I doubt I will actually be spending any money to get any of them. Plus, two cats are probably enough for any one household. Anyone want to sponser my cat obsession?

haha I love cats. For some reason that makes people think I hate dogs and constantly argue why dogs are better pets. Silly. I love dogs too, they just don't allow them in most apartments, so I have cats. I love them. My one cat is grey regular shorthair... but absolutely beautiful and he is the king of all cats. And my other cat, looks like she stopped growing at six months, she's tiny, and all black, and when she sits up, she looks like an egyptian princess .. :) Ok now i'm gonna go check out those fancy schmancy breeds.
Hey, maybe they have some of those breeds available for rescue. You never know. People buy fancy expensive cats and then get tired of them after a few months. Aww. It's terrible.
our cats are a brother and sister from a backyard litter. they are 2 years old. the brother is a orange tabby. hes playful. the sister is a small delicate black with white belly, front paws and back socks. she is very sweet and a little shy. she attends our family study every week but so far her brother is an unbeliever. we are hoping to convert him. ;)
i visited our local shelter when frest was pet browsing. i fell in love with a calico there, but i resisted bringing her home.
I thought this journal was gonna be about catty girls. whew!
i love my cat, jazzy. she's your basic tabby. such a free loading dead beat stow away kitty.
aww man you dont know me at all. free loading kitties are the best, though. i co-sign on all free loading. thats whats up!
I thought it was about catty girls too and was hence disapointed. However, I love kitties!
HaHa! funny. i was like, "rrrr, i hate catty girls! *click* oh, i like cats a lot."
I had the opposite reaction..
Siamese rule. Get one of those.
"we are siamese if you ple-ease. we are siamese if you dont please. we are former residents of si-am. there are no finer cats than we am."
man lady and the tramp did a number on their rep, huh? those cats were pure eeeeeee-vil.
We used to have 2 Siamese cats when I was little. One was the brown kind (Sabina), and the other was the grayish-blue kind (Missy).
When I was 4, I threw Sabina off the bannister, onto the couch about 15 feet below.
It's true....cats DO land on their feet.
can you do me a favor and take Mike's cat? I can't breathe with that thing...
You've seen my kitty, right summer? Big old fatty! He's a mix of something with definetly a little bit of persian in there. Long black hair with some red in it and green eyes. He's the laziest bum and has an nervous eating disorder.
I think Chausie's look creepy, like that cat Rachel got in Friends once that hissed her name. The Egyptian Mau is kind of beautiful in an other-worldly cat way. Maine Coon is kind of boring except for that tale, what's going on there? The Ocicat is pretty but I prefer long hair cats even though I'm allergic. The Savanah looks NUTS! So far I'd go with the Scottish Fold, could he be any bigger and more fun looking? Awww..and the Siberian is cute too.
people assume automatically that since i am scared of dogs, I hate them. And they're right. I was at Lauren's house yesterday, and her dog all slobbered on my pants. WHY. WHY. So gross. My cat would never do that. Although cats are covered in cat spit. But that's another story.
I guess Lauren must have put in a good word for you :-P
yea sorry bout that - but good news slobber will come out when washed or drycleaned.
This is all I can offer as consulation.
Whatever happened to Diana?
I heard she lives in Anaheim
Cats pee EVERYWHERE!!!! >:(
not mine. they are very faithful to their litter box.
Oh man....my brother's cat (who my mom has right now, and is the sole reason for having to replace ALL the carpet in our house) will NOT pee in the litterbox if it has a SPECK of ANYTHING in it other that cat litter. She's awful. And so my mom just moved into an apartment complex that was nice enough to not charge her for the cat, and now she's started peeing in THERE! It's gross. Cat urine is one of the top 5 foulest-smelling things ever.
that is horrendous. my cat had an infection and he was feeling so badly. anyway, i was petting him bc he was crying and he peed on my leg! it was all i could do not to yell at him. anyway, to the vet he went and after a week of antibiotics, he was a new kitty.
This cat ahs been doing this forEVER. She's the sister of my kitty, who we had to put to sleep last year. I'd had him since I was 8. :(
I like cats when they're curled up on the rug in the direct path of a ray of sun shining through the window... and just when they're squinty eyes are shut in complete contentment, you fall to your knees and slither across the floor like a snake and when you're at eye level, you give 'em a poke. They make the cutest lil sound. I just fall to pieces...
After this comment I just turned around to see if my cat was still laying enar me. No, he was sitting up a few feet away starubg at me unblinking..how creepy.
with this comment you have summed up why i love cats...except the poking. that seems mean. my cats and i just snuggle.
Well it's not a jab...or a mean poke like the evil one you got from your mom when you were a kid and dosed off during the public talk...ok it is a lil mean only cuz they really get startled, but it's so cute, I can't take it!
"errrow?!" i love that sound
Yep, that's it!
My family has 3 cats. I have one and each of my sisters have one.
Awww, ok I wanna hear names...
quote in the september 2004 instyle mag by halle berry: "cats give their affection sincerely, unlike dogs, who give it away freely. theres nothing better than a cat who shows you love. theyre selective and picky. im applying [those qualities] to my own life from now on."
Yeah cat's can be very descriminating. It's funny though because my cat seems to be matching my personality. He can be very anti-social but there are times when all he wants is for you to pet him and he will just follow me around the house till he get it. lol
you know, some people quote kingdom ministries, or even district convention speakers...not summer though.
:P
yes but cats give away scratches indiscriminately....
Yea, I just got a thrashing today cuz I was all up in my cat's grill. I was just trying to snuggle...punker.
my cat, fagiolina, only scratched me one time: when i was giving her a bath. i consider that my mistake. felino, on the other hand, bites my wrist whenever the mood strikes him, but he never breaks the skin.
