And So It Begins
So, I have known for quite some time now, that Tyler(my son, for those of you who don't read the 40 comments a day I post about him) is very excited about being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He will pretty much tell anyone who will listen about his beliefs. He's even gone so far as to tell a relative of ours, who is not a Witness, that he will come to her house out in service, and teach her about Jehovah. It makes me quite proud of him.
Well, I picked him up form school today. I asked him how his day went, what he did, those sorts of things. And in discussing that, he mentioned that he told his teacher he was a Jehovah's Witness. I was kinda shocked, because I've talked to him about what to say should anything come up, but Adam and I have not yet met with his teacher to discuss that (we are supposed to meet with ehr next week, though), and I didn't think it would come up this quickly into the school year.
My mistake. :)
Anyways, I asked him what he said. Apparently, there was some discussion about parties during the school year, and Tyler asked his teacher if there would be holiday parties. She said there would, and he replied that he didn't want to go. She asked him why, and he said "because I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
Now, I know he still needs to know WHY, as a Witness, we don't do the holiday thing (we have started to explain this to him, but he's still trying to grasp it all), but I think he's got a great start on his spirituality. It makes me absolutely, incredibly proud of him, as his mother, that, at barely 5 (since he just turned 5 in July), he is already starting to stand his ground when it comes to things involving his faith.
So, I just wanted to share my happy news with you all.:)
Does anyone have any stories, experiences or whatever, about things like this, or just encouraging stuff in general, that they want to share?
Put it out there...I for one would love to hear it. :)

hey, I just wanted to say that this is a beautiful journal. I'm really proud of your son, too. Do everything for Jehovah, and your son will always put him first in his life. Also, keep up the good work. Children are very impressionable, and it's your examples that have rubbed off on him. Don't forget (I'm sure you don't) to thank Jehovah for what he's done.
Aw, Todd, thank you. It's really nice to hear that others appreciate his progress as well. We're really trying to raise him with the appreciation for Jehovah's organization, that we have come to know, and hopefully it will only continue to grow from there.
Your words really mean a lot. Thank you. :)
This is really great. make sure you build on this so that he continues to grow spiritually. Right now he is not shy about his beliefs, that's a great quality
haha wow thats awesome.
this is great....out of the mouths of babes!
this also shows that you and hubby are doing your scriptural obligation as parents and training him while he is young =)
