My first day as a regular pioneer
Today was my first day as a regular pioneer. I'm very excited about the experiences I'm going to have in the ministry. I'll be going to school Tuesday and Fridays, and service the rest of the week. I had a great day in the field, starting at 7 am and going until 5. I ended up having ten hours, I placed 11 magazines, and had a nice return visit as well. I am looking forward so much to pioneering this year and I know my efforts will be blessed. Does anyone else have any experiences from their first day of pioneering, whether it was today in the new service year or years ago. I can't wait to go back out tommorow!

Congratulations and Happy New Service Year!! This is going to be the best and hardest year of your life - trust me... but it is SO worth it.
If you ever wanna go out - let me know.
we are SO going to talk about this.
awww dan. is it hard when you keep getting passed over?
Whhhhhhhhat r u talking about...? lol
honestly the best thing that ever came from pioneering for me was the year i was able to spend in Pennsylvania. That was so phenominal and there was so much to do when it came to territory and speaking to people. Seldom worked territory is a phemoninal experience. Enjoy any opportunity that comes about.
JP actually lives in seldom worked territory.
actually, i DO believe we cover our territory in around a year still... although im not sure on that... i know we DID cover it in the last few years... but... with all the building up in area ... and since i came off the list, we dropped down again...
A few years back (maybe like 10..) we stopped doing not at homes so that we could cover our territory once a year. Now, we're doing not at homes again AND Randolph (those whimps) gave us some of their territory. Should be interesting.
lol, "those wimps!". We cover our territory really fast, these days...and we have like 5 territories from Hackettstown. (insert gesting of other congregation's inability to work it's own territory HERE--lynz, you can have the honors, if you want)
we don't cover ours. another cong from the circuit comes to help us.
yeah, we cover our territory. and our CO recently had us start doing Not At Homes again, too.
As I have not yet had the wonderful opportunity you currently have, I don't have any experiences to share.
I can, however, say how awesome I think it is that you've decided to take this path. I know Jehovah will bless your efforts, and you'll grow so much from your experiences. I hope to hear all sorts of awesome things about your upcoming days in the field ministry, and I know that will only encourage the rest of us. :)
go jp! congrats on joining the ranks. let me know if you ever need any support.
Where are you going to school?
That's really awesome that you're able to do this! yay for you!
I actually did have an amazing experience. It's long though.
About three months ago, I went to the door with one of our Bethelites - the lady at the door said to me "Oh - I know all about Jehovah's Witnesses - I used to work with someone who was a Witness." "Anyone I know?" I asked. "No - I'm sure you don't." "Try me," I said. "It was in (Nearby town). You probably don't know her." "Really, try me," I said.
She told me her name - actually that person had moved to our hall, and was one of my good friends! The householder asked about her, since they used to work together, and my friend would witness to her - I gave a brief update (she bought a house, comes to my hall, etc.) I convinced the woman to take the magazines - and we leave. I didn't think a lot of it.
A few days later - I get an emai from my friend. (Names are cut. Sorry guys.) She forwarded me what the householder sent her.
"Dan, this is from the girl that you met out in service last week.... "
Hi,
I think about you often and hope you are doing well.
I wanted to tell you a story. About two weeks ago, I was very concerned about something. I prayed to God to make everything OK. I also asked for Him to give me some kind of sign. Five minutes later, the doorbell rang. It was a Jehovah's Witness. He gave me a copy of Awake and Watchtower. When he left, I opened them and there was an article "Does Anxiety Indicate a Lack of Faith?" I felt much better after reading it and believed it to be God's sign to me that everything would be fine.
As it turned out, the Jehovah's Witness, (a guy about your age, I don't know his name) knows you and thinks that you are just wonderful. He told me that you just got a house. I'm so happy for you. I'd love to get together an catch up.
Take care.
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW how cool is that?
So I went back to see her today.
The woman invited us in to the foyer, and just started crying. She said she had been praying again today for a way out, and here we were AGAIN! (Hint - I don't know what to do when women I don't know are crying.)
She took the latest magazines, and I promised to come back and talk to her. I also left the number for the Kingdom Hall and times.
....and that... is my first service day. (Also, I got 10.5 hours and a lot of other good calls.)
(PS - Don't email this to anyone. I dont want it circulating. Although if I can get it in a yearbook....)
nice, i was just reading this in the yearbook the other day.
wow that is such a cool experience. it almost makes your hair stand up when you see how Jehovah uses you and directs you right to certain people. so amazing. i hope it does turn into a yearbook experience one day.
I think all our comments should be included too.
Dan as a professional maker of women crying (NEVER intentional, ok, maybe 15%), I assure you the best thing to do is NOT panic. The first 2 dozen times or so you want to panic. But you just be reassuring (say it's ok, don't worry, etc..), and NEVER EVER scream the words WHAT ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT NOW?. Just some felpful tips for all you guys out there....
NEVER SAY: "it's not a big deal" or "stop crying." or "i'll give you a reason to cry." girls hate that last one especially.
My dad would always say "just stop it" and we'd yell and scream and tell him we couldn't.
Only 830 more to go :)
I'm going to school at the College of New Jersey.
John, you are really one of the coolest kids I know, and you always seemed like the epitomy of a pioneer. I can't tell you how proud I am to walk shoulder to shoulder with you and some of our other new pioneers. Jehovah will bless you greatly, and you will learn SO much. I look forward to doing anything I can to help you out along the way.
#10, Thanks todd. I am definately looking forward to working with you and the other brothers and sisters this year. It's so encouraging to see so many in the area taking up the full time ministry.
Congratulations, that's an awesome experiance. Hopefully one day I can join the ranks as well. Glad to hear your doing well.

excellent jp, keep up the good work. its gonna be tough esp with school and all, but you'll handle it!
yeah, when you pioneer, you learn how to trust in him. He'll make your paths straight, even in the roughest of situations. I've seen it so many times, and it makes me draw closer to him. You will, too. It's the best!
This is so great! Congratulations...hope all your efforts are blessed. ;-)
thanks for the comments everyone. i enjoyed a nice day in service again today. only 3 people were out but all three went pretty much all the way to the book study. tommorow i have school, what a let down, haha.
HAPPY NEW SERVICE YEAR!!! yesterday was fun jp. I'm so glad you're pioneering now, this year is gonna be great!!
That's great! Jehovah will bless the effort that you are putting forth, keep pioneering as long as you can there is no other work like it and no work will ever be as satisfying.
Im not able to regular pioneer yet, but for now, I'm continuous auxillary pioneering as of last week and I had a great experience the other day as well. Mine is also long.
Back when we first came back from England 5 years ago, a sister in my hall was moving back to her hometown, but since she had several good calls she decided to give them to me as I didnt have any. One of the calls in particular was very good. She always took the magazines and I could read her a scripture. After a few years of this, I recently decided that its was time to step it up. I went to her house with another sister who is very good at starting studies, but she wasnt home. So I left her the Would You Like to Know More About the Bible tract. A few days later I went back with the same sister and my call was home. I placed the Require Brochure with her and we covered the first paragraph!!!!! She was so excited to get the brochure, her face just lit up!! And I was excited because I've never done a doorstep bible study before.
Congrats to you too, JP!!!!
OMG!!! You didn't share this with me. This is so great I'm so glad you got them home right away. Unfortunately I've had quite a time getting this one call she, wants the study but she needs to prioritize. YAY we have to do that service day at my hall, I've already been to yours.
