Nobody has written a journal since Saturday. So its up to me to save you all from a lack of choices to reply to. So lemme think of what to write about.
Vaseline Intensive Care makes EXTREMELY good moisturizing lotion. Its called Healthy Hand Essentials and its got the strawberry scent. Its wonderful.
My new favorite kind of toothpaste is Colgate 2-in-1. Its toothpaste & mouthwash!! Amazing.
Most of you...wait no..ALL of you that know me, know that I reject my white upbringing and think im black. Its a problem..ask Livy. But either way...those who know me well may have noticed my new "spanish thing". I cant believe it, but now i think im spanish, more then i think im black. No more r&b and rap...its bachata and reggaeton. Don Omar instead of Dru Hill. Adventura instead of A Tribe Called Quest. Ty's mom istead of Mike's...its a problem.
Either way I STILL have my black roots..ill never give them up. Hopefully this will spark a whole bunch of "stop trying to be something your not" posts, so bring em on.

eww! vaseline intensive care with strawberry scent that stuffs like wax! may i recommend palmers cocoa butter unscented formula? it rocks! if you are looking for a scented thing you can mix it with neutrogena sesame formula body oil. that smells yummy!
actually i was just bored at work and i looked off into the distance, and saw that bottle on somebodies desk and it inspired me to write. but ill take ur suggestions so that my hands can be soft and fuzzy. wait not fuzzy, soft and smooth.
provided you keep your hands to yourself, i dont really care what they feel like.
also, i have issues with you on this "black roots" thing. its fine be whoever one is, its when one defines oneself by color that it upsets me. you feel me?
yea i feel ya. thats how some people feel. but then alotta people DO define by color. i for one dont think it matters wha color skin u have, n none of us do obviously...but we still put certain styles wit colors of skin. not in a bad way. like if i say white/black...i just mean...well u kno wha i mean.
i wish i knew what color i was :(
A bronze or maybe olive...or possibly just sunkissed. Wait 'tilthe summer tan wears off.
i don't have any tan :( i never got in the sun this summer at ALL. This thread makes me sad.
Crispy??? ha ha
you're exotic
you are sexy colored.
i think a lot of times definition by color is just a lazy way of identification with a certain culture. papichulo likes the ghetto but also the sweet palm trees and beaches of the mother island-puerto rico. he's confused and wants it all.
sweet! i think you nailed it!
Refer to Livy's journal entry about the inner woman please!
you are white, with soul, wiggerace!
this journal was hilarious....
Good now I shall teach you the Afro Cuban ways...And no I don't practice voodoo HA! No soy ninguna bruja.
a classic Jon B--just like him, you ALMOST had me fooled. which means you know NOTHING about ashiness bro...NOTHING! :P
::lifts up arm, blows the ash off:: ahh, winter is on it's way.
I know this mixed kid who has been through it all...his white jnco-jean wearin' phase, his b-ballin' ebonics stage, and currently his "i speak rican" phase. He's got more cred with them than I do...I just don't get it.
Lemme rewind you to your black days for a sec..me and Jadakiss wanna know Why?
e-bonics. hahah. so in my sociology class the other day we were talking about forms of communication and this one really white kid who only plays hockey is like, "you mean like ebonics? that what you talking bout?" and he busts out all these words. it was hysterical.
you're hysterical....
im totally white (well maybe thats a lil shady...thanks hannibal) anyway, *gross warning* my legs were so dry last night, the ash was coming through my black stockings. so white ppl have ash, at least i do.
haha me too! Ok, so you guys get ashy too but it's not as noticable.
its noticeable underneath black stockings, for sure. get a lil color contrast going and your sunk, i guess.
I've heard white people say things like "I wish I had more of a culture." I think that's it...
dude...hes got a culture. it involves tv dinners. hes never eaten an olive. sorry for blowin up your spot, bro.
mmm, olives
sure he's got one...and I can't say that it's boring but that's what people have said to me...why do you think all my white friends wanna learn how to salsa? It's fun...
salsa is great! i need to find a latin club and some peeps to go down here. im going through withdrawal.
salsa is awesome! I can only dance if i have a good partner so he can make me look good. i'm not good at teaching but if i'm comfortable with the guy then i can follow well.
then you totally wanna dance with pat. he's soo good at it.
i would go! i'll just have to trick andrew into going.
its twice a lindy. so easy for swingers to learn.
Lindy..why does this sentence have my name in it?
for real, lyndz? or are you joking? jic: Noun 1. lindy - an energetic American dance that was popular in the 1930s (probably named for the aviator Charles Lindbergh)
Yeah, that's one of my nicknames. Interesting..
yes, i know, i've told him that and tried to teach him. he can't move his hips though for some reason (he claims that only gay men and latinos move their hips like that)and shakes his shoulders instead. amusing, yet frustrating.
have you tried liquoring him up?
oooooh, yes, once in costa rica on our honeymoon. he did do some latin dancing then. i will have to try this again!
i dont got no italian culture...nor do i care, sorry. my dads italian and he doesnt act like it so of course im not gonna. my mom is irish/german and she used to march with the black panthers in harlem, so thats where i got my stuff from. even as a witness she raised me to be aware of different cultures, excpecially the african american one
i didnt say you had an italian culture. i certainly dont think of you as italian. i was talking about the time you came over our house for dinner and you were talking about the frozen food you usually eat. im not ripping on being youre being culturally aware. i was raised that way, too. if you grow up in a multicultural enviornment, what can you expect but a little awareness by osmosis.
WHAT PEG FENNIMORE MARCHED WITH THE BLACK PANTHERS!!??!!
that is very hard to believe! LOL
haha u kno my mom is crazy like that. next time u come over, look on the bookcases...i swear like every other book is black power or malcom X, or the black panther movement. the woman was crazy back in the day.
this is slightly OT - theres an elder in my old hall that has all this enviornmental fight the system type stuff in his bookcase. it always frightens me a little to look at it but its so cool that ppl come out of that militant phase and throw that burden on JH.
lets keep fighting loving
i will shoot you with many fragrant kisses
and I will catch them and mush them altogether and throw 'em back to strike you down!
haha yea its weird right? but its all good. just dont mentioned slavery around here if shes in one of her (anti-white) moods. o man it cracks me up. the woman's quite the individual...thats why shes my mommy
this is where we disagree. (who mentions slavery anyway?) i dont hate slavery bc im anti white. i hate it bc its wrong. i think fixating on color gives ppl a reason to belittle the message.
go on loving your mommy thats cool!
yea i agree. in fact that whole subject drives me crazy. obviously slavery is wrong...but its the anti-white that follows the subject around that i hate. granted...if you were PERSONALLY affected by it, i can see where ur comin from. but i guess honestly i couldnt say, cuz in the truth you dont gotta worry bout harvesting those feelings..so its a protection. but sometimes when im around worldly people it drives me crazy. sensative subject though
The funky part si TODAY nobody can use the excuse, but they still try. For example: if someone's disatvantaged they try to blame it on that, it's really just a copout. There are plenty of minorities or mixed background individuals that are successful, what makes these people different? NOTHING.
Recently Bill Cosby is getting grief about stating a truth similar to the above mentioned...it's about time people start taking responsibility for themsleves PERIOD no matter where they're from or what they are.
but people do still get treated badly, like Karamo on RealWorld-Philly so it's still touchy and it's hard growing up hearing the stories of mistreatment that your family has gone through too.
yeah it's tough. My grand mother is west indian so i had to hear from her and my mom how tough it was for them growing up in the last generation about 40-45 years ago. It's a bit of a different situation because my grandmother is dark skinned but was mixed herself, so my mom is light skinned. THey had to say that she was their (mom & aunt & uncle) nanny when they went out shopping in a 'white' store.
Oh yes definately. I feel for people who have legitimate issues any kind of discrimination.
thats true in its entirety, except for one small part...its not true with me. people look at me and say, "Now heres a young white boy trying to make money...im not going to hire him cause hes white." Its wrong people..its WRONG. but i move on...thats right cuz im good like that.
exactly what i was thinking. trying to picture it...i just can't. although i can tell she probably doesn't take anyone's crap, but still, the panthers?? wild
HAHA you have this "spanish" thing going on? a little info from a girl that has spanish blood streaming through her veins....we're more into the R&B/RAP than the reggaeton....LOL
but then again, i'm "white-washed" as my latin friends would say, so waht do i know.
Poop is cool.
you too? Man, it's hard to find a place. Only people that are extremely down to earth can appreciate me.
oh yeah. My BestFriend (male) is as white-washed as me and his parents are from mexico. it's pretty funny. but it is hard being made fun of, esp when you start speaking spanish.
that you sound like a gringa?
I have the accents down right in spanish but just in general....i sound like a blond haired blue eyed chick.
I dont even have all the accents down...pathetic!
no not pathetic. its just that our first language is english, we were raised on that and besides we're in america, we should be speaking english! LOL
on a funny note, our warehouse mgr's name is Pedro, so i was talking a little to him in spanish and when i called him i wanted to use the accents in the proper place (pe-dro) but instead i ended up calling him perro (a dog) LOL
we have a town near us called buena - i thought it was pronounced the spanish way, but the locals pronounce it like tuna. weird!
that is strange. can you imagine living in a town called "buna"??
ROFL this cracked me up...the "d" that sounds like a "th" and the hard "rrrr" girl, that's complicated word!
oh yeah he was laughing so hard. not to mention the others that were around....i was deemed a "pocha" meaning a white mexican. they got no love for us! LOL
hey to each his own, but over here raggaeton is huge wit all my spanish friends. and since most of my friends r spanish, thats what im getting into. but, it could be the whole east/west coast thing, cuz that always plays a part in the big picture
WESSSSSSSSIDEEEEEEE! LOL
here's a good read, I happen to be writing an essay on this short story called Desiree's Baby by Kate Chopin. You can find a text of it somewhere online, I'm sure.
I wrote my term paper for World Lit on that last year! Good story.
frankie you hang out with my sister too much. that's all i have to say her and her reggaeton i hate that! it all has the same beat and its soooo annoying.
haha u sound like leo!! u 2 should get married
Yes! and then move to my hall!!!
hah i was considering moving to yours. its closer and i am in dover terr....but i think ill stay at randolpho for now
ooo harsh
