Raise me $1.50
I've found myself caught in another work situation. The same woman, my trainee, from my other journal, blurted out confidential information to me. A few minutes after I got my raise, she told me she got a raise. She told me the only reason she mentioned leaving is because she's not making enough. THAT'S when they gave her a raise. BAHLONEY! She took her exam to become a cop. This is a temp job to her. She tells me all the time. She hasn't even been here 3 months yet-let alone 6 or 12. (Isn't that around when one would usually get a raise?). That in itself was bad enough. Then, before I could stop her, she told me how much she's making now. She got the same raise as I did and is making the same as I am.
I will be working here 2 years on November 1st. This woman who doesn't carry her weight is making the same amount as me. I really wish I didn't know this information. I'm pretty upset. I mean my raise is good, very good. I was/am happy about it, but then to find that out...I feel so jipped. I've been very loyal, flexible. I know I have a lot of drama (my supervisors are now very understanding of this), but I feel like I'm doing my best. This was insulting.
I intend to call a meeting with my supervisor (before going to HR). I could get her in trouble by doing this (which doesn't appeal to me). If need be, my supervisor can reword what I tell him so as not to implicate anyone. He's good like that. I just dont want to seem like I'm complaining about them giving me a raise because I am very happy that I got one. I've definitely got to let them know how I feel. I don't intend to ask for a higher raise. I just want to capitalize on how it made me feel bad. I have always been loyal and trustworthy. I know he's going to say, "As you can see by the recent lay-offs, things are pretty tight around here." I expect that. I figure I'll say, "I understand that, but I also have to worry about myself. I need to know that I'll be taken care of and not taken advantage of."
If they want to give me more money, they will offer it. Or I'll say I'm going to go elsewhere without saying it. Something like..."What happened is very upsetting, and it puts me in a predicament now. I need to know that my dedication and efforts will be rewarded." I hope that without actually saying it, it plants the seed that I am prepared to leave if they don't look out for my best interests.
I may get a bad reaction. If I do, I suppose all of you that suggest I go elsewhere will be happy.

Aww! This STINKS!
Yeah, sharing pay and raise information isn't done. She could get canned for discussing it because of this reason right here. People get mad. Definitely ask for more loot if you feel you deserve it. Theres never anything wrong with that.
yeah, 5-0 dead right... i think its bad either way... she could get busted for telling you... and they could turn it around and get at you for talking to HER about pay... (even tho you didnt) i got in trouble when a guy at my job did that... i never said a word about anything, he just told me... someone overheard, and i was sat down and had a "chat" about it... oops... he got fired for that and a few other things.
I'm not asking for more because of the cutbacks. They'll say we don't have more.
Ok. Well, tell them to fire the girl and you'll take her pay.
hahahaha, i LIKE this suggestion!!! i agree.
ha ideal.

Remember.. some people can't take jokes
that's why i won't joke with you from now on
The obvious context subject was toxicgirl. But, if you insist on playing the game like that, make your joke(s) next time and every time after, at least 5% intelligibly witty. Then my friend we'll have a fair chance at feeling the urge to laugh.
thats lousy. i'm sorry pal
ha thanks, bud.
Not fair. Congrats on your raise but yeah that's not fair. She really should be fired for disclosing that info.
Yeh, bad stuff. If things are tight at the company should of given you a raise, plus given you her raise on top of it, and her nil.
by any chance does she have an associates or bachelor's degree? they would pay her more if she does.
neither
She got laid off.
Good.
yea except for the fact that she threw everyone under the bus on her way out
Wenches. Did you get a talking to?
