Being Sick

specialk by specialk · Dec 13, 2004 · 136 views · · · Journal

So, I don't feel well today. At all. I played hooky from life for the day. Which inspired me to write this journal. I've been sacked out on the couch all day, drinking ginger ale and eating nothing but popsicles, because it's all I can stomach. That is my solution to an upset tummy. Which leads me to ask:
What are your favorite things to do when you're sick? Play video games all day? Watch reruns of "Saved By the Bell", including the "College Years?" Or just catch up on the much needed sleep we know we all need?

Play video games all day

Do you have a "setup" by where you sit and play video games? Like, a glass with ice in it, a 2-liter of ginger ale (or soda, or your preferred beverage of choice) for refills, some chips or snacks or something, the phone, all the remote controls you need, whatever medicine you may require, etc.? 'Cause I've done that before....hahahaha.

haha nice

maybe a drink or something, but I guess I get up to do stuff a lot. i should try the "setup" next time :)

maybe you could put a TV and a fridge in the bathroom. then you'd be set.

I play video games. Or I watch like three movies, back to back. Usually I have to suck it up.

I set up camp on one of the couches in my house. I have a snack tray next to me with tissues, cup of soda, jolly ranchers (if my throat hurts), bucket for throwing tissues out, channel changer, cold compress for my head, etc. I usually watch movies, especially Beauty and the Beast.

uhm ok that's a lot of sugar for a sick person. i don't get it.

Soda settles your stomach and jolly ranches coat your sore throat in goodness.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

What if it's nausea? Do the Jolly Ranchers still apply?

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 ·

Noo..you're probably better off with saltine crackers.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

Yeah...I munch on those or club crackers....a sure thing to fend off the yuckies.

I hate the College Years. I can't remember the last sick day I took when I was actually sick, but I probably slept all day.

my typical sick day goes like this...

6:25... Send text message to coworker saying im not coming in.
6:27... Recieve text message back calling me a girl or gay.
6:28... Laugh a bit, then go back to bed.
8:30... Wake up, katie questions if I really am sick, of course I am... obviously... **nervous cough**
8:45... Katie leaves, video games ensue.
9:45... Make myself breakfast, usually eggs and cheese sandwhich.
11:00.. Run out and rent some movies, usually 2 or 3, enough to last through the day.
12:00...On the way back, run through a Chinese Buffet, or Taco Bell. Stuff my face.
3:00... Alternate between video games and movies until Katie comes home, assume sick position on couch like I was when she left.

Hahaha....I LOVE that schedule...that's like me trying to fool my mom when I was in high school and college, hahaha. Reminds me of Ferris Bueller....goofing off and going out during the day, and it's all good as long as you're back on the couch by the time mom or dad gets home.
