Little Garden Update
So i was all excited a few months ago that this is the first year i'll be able to have my very own garden
so... i just wanted to post some pics in here, of what it looks like so far! :)
This is what I started with, I think about 2 months ago - I planted cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, mint, lavender, oregano, basil, and cilantro
then little sprouts started to come up
the little cucumber plants grew the fastest - this was taken April 2
about a week later i started to separate some of the plants into little pots, and it was still too cold to put them outside
then i created a little garden outside - it's probably about 10'x10', maybe a little less.
unfortunately the soil is really horrible, and the cucumbers i planted in the soil pretty much died. But the ones planted in the little black container, survived, and are still doing pretty good.
In fact, they look kind of sexy
I just took these a few minutes ago:
and my tomatoes, cilantro, basil, and oregano, are doing very well, and they are really ready to go in the ground but i haven't had time to get some better soil in the garden and stuff, and i don't want to plant them right now because they'll probably die in the sucky soil, but then again, i really don't know what I'm talking about
the mint, lavender, and carrots kind of just failed to come up. Looks like i possibly may have one mint plant, but I don't know. I can just buy one. I think that is what I shall do. Because I want fresh mint iced tea this summer!
either way, they are still doing quite well and hopefully in a few months i will actually be eating some salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. right from my garden
or, i'll just write a journal all about how gardening is stupid

that's great! thanks :)
i think a lot of those things will grow better in sandy soil.
yeah, i think you are correct. Right now the soil is muddy, clay-ish, and rocky
not good
Aw this was cute. We always just bought baby tomato plants and they would grow like crazy! And I think string beans are pretty easy to grow if you wind them around a lattice.
so exciting!
They look so cute. They are your babies basically :)
ha.. i wish i would have taken day by day photos of my plants so i could do one of those cool short movies of it growing in like 2 seconds. next time.
I don't know what it is about planting vegetables that makes it so exciting. I just put my peat pots outside yesterday to see how they would hold up. I think I broke one of my broccolli
it's exciting i think because you're creating LIFE!!! and they're not just plants they are FOOD. So yeah that's exciting! haha
i think you are right. it's like you don't really have to do much work, but you are so proud of yourself when they grow! like having babies.
I was so excited when i found out yesterday that I have a ton of raspberry bushes right next to where my garden is going to be. good thing my neighbor told me what they were-i thought they were weedy and going to cut them down
oh sweet!! raspberries and strawberries - that's what i wanted to plant also.. gotta make that happen soon before it's too late and i cna't find them anywhere
yeah, you have to get strawberries RIGHT NOW. they ripen in june. i was so happy to see little green strawberries on mine. get the Everbearing kind-they will fruit in spring and late summer.
I want to plant some blueberries too. and some fruit trees. but I don't know if i'm too late for that.
Missing rhubarb. You need rhubarb ... it's always forgotten
I have some growing on the back of my property. i tasted it for the first time yesterday and I wasn't a fan. I'll send alllll of it to you!
I'd love that. I never see it around, except it jam form or pie form. It's a coo word to say as well.
I'll be in NJ this weekend. i will bring you some, but I don't know where you live!!
Whereabouts will you be?
i used to have tons of rhubarb in poland
did you like it? it's sooooo bitter. my neighbors said they ate it with tons on sugar.
i think we used to make some kind of drink out of it
Some recipes for you...

Strawberry-Rhubarb pie is delicious
To Rzeczpospolita Polska I must then go. Btw, I didn't get selected to go for the Special Convention. :(
Awww my pioneer assist partner is actually going to that one..not that I mean to rub it in, I'm just very excited for her. Don't worry, she's years older then you, you'll get your turn! (unless this system ends then itll be one big international convention)
I got accepted to the International Convention in Switzerland back in 2003.. but I wasn't notified until the last minute and I had orginally been sent a letter saying that I wasn't accepted. So by the time, the 2nd letter came saying I could go, I had already made plans to go to London. So, that's why I was really looking foward to going this time, but I guess they got a load of requests. :(
I heard from our secretary a few months ago that someone at the service desk told him that there had been over 20,000 applications.
Originally, the criteria didn't allow for that many applicants, and since they needed more to apply the criteria was changed twice after that. With the 3rd criteria change, they must have had more applicants than they could let attend.
Yeah. I barely even qualified to apply. (It'll be 10 years this June.) I didn't really expect to be accepted, but it would have been nice.
Hey wo norries, we qualified. And, nobody's greater or less than anyone else in the Organisation. And, just to show that we wanted to go, means something. We reached out to do something Spiritual. And, maybe next time we'll get to go.
Did they actually send you a letter telling you that you weren't accepted? I ask because I applied and never heard anything back, so I'm assuming my application got rejected. It would've been nice to hear something, though.
I didn't get a letter back either this time. Must have been to many applicants to be able to do so.
i went herb crazy, i started with just basil and parsly, now i have cilantro, rosemary, mint, catnip..i gotta get MORE!
btw, my cat goes NUTS with the catnip, first cat i've had that it affects. it's so funny.
aw kam that is so awesome!!!
Personally, I'm still working on my glowing meatballs. This tree is definitely hard to maintain, and they don't have that same taste as ones from Italy, but it was worth the try.

LOL
