This weekend
As some of you may have seen on the musings page, I am currently in Massachusetts. And I was thinking: New Jersey is only a half-day's drive away, and I'd like to actually get a chance to finally meet some of you guys in person. Given the situation up here, I'm still not 100% sure if I'll be able to get away, but I was thinking of coming down sometime this weekend. Would anyone be interested in doing something?
P.S.: I wasn't exactly sure where I should put this, Ian, but a journal seems as good as anywhere, so here it is.

Ahaha... just for kicks I checked if there was a 'free' flight I could get... there is... LOL too bad I have too much to finish off the paperwork for the service year... would have been kinda kewl.
How do you get a 'free' flight? Frequent flyer miles?
Wait, where do you live normally? For some reason I thought you were already on the east coast.
I live in California. SF Bay area to be precise.
Ahhh....very cool. You're right next door to me, hahaha.
I guess. Next door is a relative term considering that it's probably a 10-hr drive to where you live in arizona. Maybe longer.
Hey, you, Gina and Adam (ekulu) are the closest ones to me here on the site....I gotta say things like "right next door to me" so I don't feel so far away from everyone else, hahha.
Hey - I'm going to be in SF in a few weeks!
Yeah. You were asking some questions about SF & Napa a while ago weren't you? Did you finally decide what all you guys are gonna be doing?
We're going to be in napa for 4 days, so we're going to do the wineries, some biking and hiking, and generally a lot of relaxing and eating. I can't decide if I want to go to the restaurant French Laundry or not... I keep reading that it's the most amazing restaurant, but it's like $200/plate and that's a little more than I can rationalize. The only things I definitely want to do in SF are see alcatraz and snoop around china town, pretending I'm in a Dashiell Hammet novel.
Right now I'm just bummed about flying - the restrictions are causing a serious headache. No liquids means no hair gel, no moisturizer, none of my essential items. And no water. And I'm not sure if they'll let us bring on our mp3 players, pdas, cell phones and most of all our laptop. We were going to watch simpsons DVDs the whole time and now it's all up in the air. Literally.
Dan G hails from Hayward California, his hobbies include Commutative Algebraist-y things, he enjoys rock climbing and Mexican food!
He is enjoying a svelte new self after loosing 'a couple' of pounds!
His middle name is Micah, and is interested in meeting new exciting new people!
This will be his first opportunity to meet ANY EZABELERS!
*glad I could be of service* m
LOL. Now how much of that is by memory, and how much did you look up using the search?
:-) nothing using the current search... that would be too easy.. but I did write down that cummutative junk cuz I wouldn't remember it otherwise... plus I just cut and paste stuff like this....
Dissertation: On the Caselnuovo-Mumford Regularity of Curves and Reduced Schemes
Cuz I just have no clue what it means. LOL
:-)
what does my file say? lol

Edward
wow. all old, old news. delete all of that, lol. every line of it.
my middle is still Edward though. you get a point for that.
Haha. I'm surprised you don't have any more on me. You could find out a lot more useless information about me on this site if you were looking for it.
Of course I just noted talking points whenever I read them... so I wouldn't feel like such an outsider or N00b.
Although, just those little things for certain ones, it creeps them out too much. (sorry you know who ya'll are)
I am over it now... I have met 18 peeps in person so I don't feel so out of place and others have IM'd enough to get a sense of who they are! And them me!
I feel at home :-)
I'm havin' some company this weekend or else I'd certainly begin settin' something up. HEY, if you found yourself near the Jersey shore, Toms River/Seaside area -- give a holler!
what part of MA are you in? i love boston!!
I'm staying in Maynard. It's about a 40-45 minute drive to Boston. The T takes about 55 minutes to get there from the South Acton station.
Boston is awesome. Sissy Kelly's is my fave pub there.
lol @ 'staying in Maynard'
if you can, please steal something for me that says Maynard on it, like a road sign of some sort
do it
Haha. I wouldn't have to steal anything. There's all sorts of antique shops where I could get you something with 'Maynard' on it. You ever seen 'Gilmore Girls'? Like Stars' Hollow on that show, pretty much all New England towns have an over-developed sense of their own importance. lol
too bad too bad i will be up in mass soon myself getting fitted for a bridesmaid dress
Why is that too bad?
i would've been your one woman east coast zabeler welcome party
LOL. When are you coming up here?
i'm not sure. sometime soon. have to get fitted for a bridesmaid dress.
I'll be around this weekend..it's supposed to be rainy down here, though.
Yeah I've been watching weather.com to see how it's gonna be. Not looking too promising...
What is there to do down there when it's raining? Someone had suggested Six Flags, but that's obviously out if it's raining.
It's best when it's raining! No one else goes and there's no lines.
They stay open when it's raining?
Yeah, they rarely close. I think they just don't have the cartoon characters walking around.
I was actually there yesterday when it was supposed to rain all day (it just drizzled). Pretty empty--good times! I think they only close rides down if it's lightning out (big metal rollercoasters=lightning conductors?).
Nice. I actually wouldn't mind going in the rain if anyone else were interested, but I didn't think they'd be open.
Anyone interested in going?
Anyone got any other ideas?
I need to decide quick if I'm going to do this since the weekend is rapidly approaching
Okay so actually the forecast for the last two days has been saying Monday's going to be awesome almost 80 and only partly cloudy...and I was supposed to go to 6flags with two sisters from my hall and whoever else wanted to go...hmmmmmmmm
Oh wait bump this were looking for Sat & Sun =(
Monday would work for me too. I forgot that it was Labor day, so I have it off work too.
I just checked the forecast for Saturday:
Heavy Rain/Wind
90% chance of precipitation.
Yuck.
Anyone got any bright ideas of things we could do indoors, or should I scrap the whole idea of coming down?
We could all chill at the rockaway mall! I can never think of good-indoor things to do.
Honestly, hanging out at the mall would be good enough for me. I'm not really picky when it comes to things to do.
Where is that, btw?
It was kind of a joke. The Rockaway mall is in Morris County, NJ and is not exciting at all. It's a local hangout for 13 year olds.
Ah, gotcha.
Ok people.
Last call: I just checked the weather for tomorrow and it looks like it should be ok for six flags. If anyone is interested in going give me a call or txt me at (925)-786-5378. I need to hear soon if I'm gonna come down since I need to rent a car today if I'm gonna do this. I would probably need to hear before 1 PM today.
