Atlas the Great

Except that he lost his mind this weekend. Atlas is my 2 year old French Bulldog.

French Bulldogs (I think all bulldogs really) can not swim, basically at all. They are basically too "dense" a lot of weight, compacted into a little body.

Austin & I were away in Philly for the weekend...(btw, really cool King Tut Exhibit & awesome restaurant called Estia...http://www.estiarestaurant.com/ )

So, my inlaws watched Atlas. My mother in law was up at the pool (12 feet deep in ground pool) she was pumping the water off of the cover. Suddenly without warning my dog straight JUMPED right onto the cover. My mother-in-law screamed and went running after him, thinking he was going to sink through the cover. She didn't make it very far because she tripped and fell on her wrist (she thought it was broken but later at the ED found out, it's just a bad bruise)

So she was unable to help Atlas, but some how he swam on the cover of the pool and pulled himself out off the cover.

I have never seen my dog so exhausted. We got home at about 7pm last night and he was not his rambunxious self. He was barely able to jump into the car, and crashed when we got home.
