Atlas Titan Duchaine
March 2005 - September 15, 2007
Atlas had to be put to sleep today due to a birth defect in his spinal cord which left him all but paralyzed. We loved him and will miss him so much.
Atlas was only 2.5 years old. :-(
This was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. Put my adorable loving puppy to sleep. Austin, my mother-in-law and myself were in the room with him and he went really peacefully.
What makes it especially difficult, besides the fact that he was so young, is that he was completely fine a week ago. This all happened so suddenly.
Of course as we know, animals will never live forever, but I can't wait for the day when these horrible diseases won't ravage them anymore and they will live their life in full.

I'm so sorry hunny :(
I wish I could give you the BIGGEST hug right now. I really luv animals to they're just these special little creatures and they can be so loving and sweet.
Great pictures, I'm sure happy memories.
im so sorry :( atlas was an awesome dog!!
sorry to hear it
:( i'm sorry to hear that.
NO! It sucked when i had to do this to dogs and cat
aw man this almost brought me to tears because i know exactly how you feel :( i'm so sorry to hear this
all i can say is that with time the pain will subside a bit (i won't say it will go away because I'm still waiting for that day heh)
and eventually you will be able to smile and think about the good happy memories without just thinking about this horrible day and the sad end
the most important thing is he lived a good life and was taken care of so well, and when you're ready you can open up your home to a new puppy :(
:(
sometimes i think that... well if my cat was still alive we wouldn't have my dog, and I LOVE my dog, so that's a happy thing..and i'm so happy that we rescued him - he would have died in the woods and sometimes i can't believe that someone threw away this beautiful dog - and then i get really sad because I stinkin loved that cat.. so then i feel guilty about how much I love the dog.. hehe.. so it's a little bit of a vicious cycle... but.. the pain does subside with time
Really sorry to hear about your doggy :(
awww lady! im so sorry to hear this!! it DEF is tough to lose a pet, they're "family". *hugs*
thanks so much guys. it's been pretty hard, especially when we come home from somewhere because he would always run to the door to greet us, but we'll be okay.
we have our two cats that have just been going bizerk because they have free reign of the house. it's kind of funny because they would never be able to play "freely". Atlas would always jump at them or something, haha.
but we'll get another puppy in a few months or so, but we will not name him Atlas the II because he can never be replaced. :)
sorry to hear this, Jahanna.
I thought of you this weekend when we were in the city and I saw a shirt that said "Kiss me, I'm half Italian" and i said "hey Jahanna's half Italian, half weirdo"
Hey Jahanna - Dan told me about this and I got so sad because I remember going to see Goldfinger and it being the best weekend, cause you were going to see Goldfinger, in a wedding and getting a puppy!
We put my German Shepard asleep last year and that was really hard... its losing a part of the family.
aww, yea. Yea, on the way home from the breeder Atlas pooped in the car, and I still was in love w/ him. haha
Actually, he was in his crate, (in the car) and he stuck his butt right up to the door of the crate and shot the poop out of the crate. hahaha
Sorry Jano!
I remember when you first got him and brought him to the House in LBI.
And how much fun we had with his Poop.
aww! i forgot about that!! ew, yea, that was gross & funny.
