pre-paradise psychosis

So my family and I are leaving tomorrow morning (Sunday) and flying to the beautiful island of St. John. (Don't cry, guys, I'll be back in two weeks...) I have obviously been looking forward to this trip, and I am beginning to find that the closer we come to leaving, the more I just want to be there and not here.

You see, my mother is a bit loony when it comes to vacations, and quite frankly, I would gladly bring her to the zoo and have them heavily sedate her than allow her to roam free a week or two before our departure.

Suddenly, things in our home that have never before seen soap and water are being scrubbed until they shine. Basement cabinets and drawers are frantically being ripped apart and re-organized just days before we go. Tell me, just who do you suppose is carrying out this insane and ludacris work? ME, that's who! Do not think for even a second though, that i am doing any of this by choice. Oh no, my mother has established a fine method of forced labor that works quite well really. See, she knows that i want to go to this party tonight, and the only way i can go is if EVERYTHING is done so that we are ready to leave for the airport.

Somebody help me out here- how did scrubbing the corners of my closet floor with a toothbrush suddenly become a necessity? Do any of you or your parents seem to have this problem, or is it unique to only my family? Well if I don't see any of ya, have a fun two weeks, i'll be thinking of you while i'm relaxing on the beach....
