What are the chances.

I don't mean this journal in any way to blow my own horn, but this experience is just so wild to me i had to share it. A few weeks ago Jenn & I and a couple of friends were driving home late one night and we noticed a man in the middle of the road who had fallen off his bicycle and he wasn't getting up. We stopped and Brianne directed traffic so no one would hit him b/c it was dark, Jenn called 911 and I went to see if I could help him. He was very disoriented and didn't know what happened or if he hit is head or how he was hurt. Now most of the time on this road at that time of night people are coming home from the bars drunk so we didn't know if he drank too much, was on drugs, or hit his head. I didn't want to touch him just in case he was a weirdo, but we managed to help him out of the middle of the road. The police came and asked him questions and the poor guy didn't even know where he lived. After we told what happened we left and really never thought of it since. A couple of days ago, Jenn was in the drugstore and a lady asked what happened to her arm. Jenn told her she broke her collarbone and the lady said her son did also about 3 wks earlier and 3 girls stopped to help him. Jenn asked where and when this happened and when the lady told her Jenn said "I was one of the 3 girls." The lady was like Oh my God! My son had a blood clot in his brain and if you hadn't stopped to help so quickly he would've died! You saved my son's life and i've been trying to find out how i could contact you girls to thank you but i didn't know how. She gave Jenn a big hug and thanked her so much. Her son had surgery so he is OK now, but the lady wanted our names and numbers to thank us. That really made my day and you never know how a little thing can effect lives, literally. And what the heck are the chances of that lady finding Jenn and finding all this out? If that lady calls I pray that we can give her a great witness.

very cool! that's the kinda thing that you always hear about but never happens to you.

and man, i hope the lady didn't hurt jenn's collarbone by giving her that big hug!

you already did give a great witness! so Good Samaratan-let's pray that the woman calls you and you can tell her about Jehovah.

iwz #3.1 iwz

yeah, then you can say the slogan that i hear too often, "i only did that because i am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. that's right, that was the only reason"! hahah

lol! yeah, i've been practicing in my head what i would say and i'm trying to make it NOT like that. I don't want to sound like a retard and BLOW IT! I guess i will have to discern where to slip it in should she ever call.

i wouldn't say that right away because she'd think you're a freak. you could say that you helped him because you'd want someone to do the same for you if you were in his circumstances.

when did that become a slogan? I thought it was more like an advertising campaign, or a catch phrase or something..

skaorsk8 #3.1.2.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

yeah. we have lots of slogans, as jehovah's witnesses. i learned them all from the societys commericials.

iwz #3.1.2.2 iwz

haha, ok, catch phrase then.

That's an awesome story! That happened to me once...except the guy was really drunk...and I wanted to kick him after I found out I risked my life for him...so maybe not the same exact thing but close.
