I wanna bake something weather it be a cake, cookies, pie, or a pastry.

Does anyone have a good recipe for me?

HAH, NO IM THINKING DESSERT

whoknows #2 whoknowsOG 2003

OR you can make Polish Chrusciki.

Loosely translated, chrusciki means “cookie” in Polish.

Chrusciki are almost lighter than air. This is the result of a fairly extended kneading process, which forces as much air into the dough as possible. They are fried. Fry the pastries in small batches, so that they float freely, without touching. Each chrusciki will take about a minute total to fry. (This includes both sides.) As soon as the confection turns golden brown, turn it over with a long fork, and fry the other side. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar, and store in an airtight container.
Makes about 7 dozen cookies

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

2 large eggs

5 large egg yolks

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon orange extract

1 teaspoon lemon extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar

1 tablespoon rum

3 tablespoons sour cream

1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

1 teaspoon grated orange zest

2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour

Vegetable shortening, for deep-frying

Sifted confectioners’ sugar, for sprinkling

(my mom sometimes used to also add a little bit of beer.. i guess for the air-ness.. i duno)

Melt the butter, and combine with eggs, egg yolks, granulated sugar, salt, extracts, vinegar, rum, and sour cream in a large bowl. Beat on medium-high until lemon-colored. Add citrus rinds. Gradually add enough flour to produce a fairly stiff dough. Turn out onto a floured board, and knead for 8 to 10 minutes, adding flour if necessary, until the dough blisters, becomes elastic, and can be handled easily. Cut the dough in half, and wrap one half with plastic wrap; reserve at room temperature.

Roll 1/2 of dough very, very thin and cut into strips about 4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide. Cut the ends on a diagonal. Slit each piece in the center, and pull one end through the slit. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and cover with a towel to keep moist. Repeat with other half of dough.

Heat the shortening in a cast-iron frying pan to 375 degrees, and fry the dough strips, a few at a time, for about 1 minute, until lightly browned, turning once with a long fork or tongs.

Drain chrusciki on brown paper bags; transfer to a cooling rack and sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar. Store, tightly covered, in wax-paper-lined tins.

Note: This recipe makes an enormous quantity, so it can be halved if you wish, but do not divide the orange, lemon, and vanilla extracts.

I know it's not baked, but your journal reminds me of this:

mmm, I made Spaghetti with Meat Sauce for me and the guys when we went to B.C. this is roughly what you do:

The secret is sausage. get like a pound of italian sausages (they can be spicy if you like). cut and remove the casings (the sausage skin), and crumple them up into a saucepan. brown over medium heat, chopping them up smaller and smaller with the spatula. when done, drain the oil.

Then in a seperate pot, over medium heat, pour some olive oil, heat, put a half of a chopped garlic bulb in, and sautee the garlic (brown, DONT burn), then put in 3 jars of crushed tomatoes, basil, salt, pepper.

Then put in meat, bring to a boil, then let simmer for like 30 minutes.

Boil a pot of water and then put in your favorite pasta (I love cappelini). To test if its done: throw a couple strands at the fridge. if it sticks, its probably not done, if it falls, it should be good. or the other way around, not really sure. just eat a strand (after letting it cool). I like my pasta al dente, not too soft.

reaf #6.1 reafOG 2002

Mm that does sounds good, I love sausage, Mm, its so good in sauce

skaorsk8 #6.2 skaorsk8OG 2002

throw it on the wall. cause you might not always have a fridge. if it sticks, it's done. if lots of people eat it and get sick, it wasn't done.

hunkpapap #7 hunkpapapOG 2003

reaf #7.1 reafOG 2002

hunkpapap #7.2.1 hunkpapapOG 2003

ladyfingers, but with the larger ones that are not soft. You have to soak them overnight in kahlua. I just have to find it.....

forrestina #7.2.1.1 forrestinaOG 2002

whoknows #8 whoknowsOG 2003

I have to give you my bean soup recipe. It's so good!

1 pound bag of Goya Beans - it's actually called Bean Soup Mix - it's 16 different beans...

A lot of vegetables, like carrots, celery, peas, anything basically

Water (about 4 cups)

Chicken broth (small can or a chicken bouilion cubey thingie)

Salt,pepper and spices to taste

First you gotta soak the beans overnight in the frige in about 6 cups of water, because they are dry and need to be soaked. Then in the morning you put everything in a crock pot. You put it on the high or medium setting. Stir it up a bit. Leave, go to work, whatever it is that you may do. Come home at about 5, and enjoy an amazing bean soup.

This is very low in fat, low in sodium if you don't use too much chicken broth, it's very high in all kinds of minerals, vitamins and fiber, and not to mention, makes you fart. Can't beat it.
