The Weekend

ekulu by ekulu · Mar 2, 2003 · 241 views · Journal

Really one of the best weekends I've had in a while. We had our two day circuit assembly today, and i got to see some good friends i hadn't seen in a while. I got interveiwed on the stage on sundy morning, and everybody was congratulating me. My good freind from san diego came up here and went to the first half of the saturday, then spent the night on our couch.

The assmebly took a little twist tho because at the end the Circuit overseer gave a note to the district overseer, and he then just said we werent gonna have song and prayer and thet we had six minutes to orderly exit the building because of a bomb threat. So we were outta there a few minutes laters. Crazy stuff. Anyway, I had an awesome good time.

Also: we had four baptised! 3 sisters (theyre fleshly sisters of each other, not mine) and one brother!

i'm glad you had a good time-ours is coming up this weekend. we have 5 from our hall getting baptized. andrew went to the attendants meeting and they said the FBI gave the society a note saying that terrorists view us the same way they view jews and just to be extra careful. crazy

i always felt that if armageddon comes i want to be at a meeting or out in service.

skaorsk8 #4.1.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

i always felt like WHEN armageddon comes (notice, not IF) i want to be in the tunnels at bethel. i don't know why that would make me feel more safe, though.

forrestina #4.1.1.1 forrestinaOG 2002

hahaha OOPS...i do believe armageddon is coming!

who here thinks bethel might move to an undisclosed secret location? seriously, new york city is gonna be nuked.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

i dont' think they would do that. although i do think they would get a BAJILLION dollars for all that property in brooklyn.

whatever happens will certainly be unprecedented. never before has jehovah's earthly organization had such a presence when it comes to brick and mortar facilities (branch offices, printing facilities, kindgom halls, etc). i believe that even if these are abandoned, literature will still be printed for distribution. it'll be interesting to see how the organization deals with this.

as to nyc being nuked.... eh, i'm not so sure that will happen. after false religion is abolished and the governments turn against jehovah's organization, armageddon will begin, and i don't think nuclear war between nations at that point is realistic. (correct me if i'm wrong pleasse)

deanh77 deanh77Founder

good points everyone. yeah, I'm definitely not saying all-out total global nuclear war. I'm talking about maybe a nuke or two. that is a definite possiblity. the bible does not say that there will be no nuclear attacks on the U.S.

or maybe I've just been watching way too much 24. Man that show is awesome!

deanh77 deanh77Founder

and I'm only talking about moving out of brooklyn, not the farm or the other bethels around the world. (hey maybe our new headquarters will be in Australia. g'day brotha.)

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

my friend was just visiting from down under...she'd flip if she heard you say that cus she says they dont say it

deanh77 deanh77Founder

I was in British Columbia in february and everyone there was from Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain. it was ridiculous. we just made fun of everyone so bad. We never heard anyone say "g'day mate", but the man-maid told us "no worries, mate, no worries" when we told him we needed more towels. we were the loud obnoxious americans.

SHEILA! BLOODY SHEILA!!!

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

i was actually thinking the same thing, esp when they decided to move all that stuff up to the farm. I hope it doesn't become too secret b/c i want to move where ever they are going.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

well whatever happens we'll be informed and everyone will be banding together more than ever. last night's bookstudy was such a good reminder of how we are all working in unison. it just shows how much Jehovah has a hand in the organization.

deanh77 deanh77Founder

yes, this is what made me think of that. I heard that they moved a lot of stuff to the farm and then I asked someone if they are still in Brooklyn because its convenient to ship stuff out of there, and he said they don't even ship that much out on boat from there. (of course I don't know if any of this is true, I just think its an interesting idea)

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002

i don't think they have any fear of man

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

that is a misapplication of "fear of man." If they feel that there is a danger (and they "feel" through holy spirit) or that it would be the course of wisdom to book it out of NYC b/c of certain possibilities, I don't think that is fear but preservation.

deanh77 deanh77Founder

yeah, or say if Jehovah wrote something on the wall with a finger made of fire, for example.

deanh77 deanh77Founder

so are you implying that the 1st century christians feared man when they left Jerusalem because they knew the Romans were coming back?

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

good point dean!

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002

no...they were responding to a specific command from jesus...today, i don't see the gb watching world events and leaving brooklyn in a mass exodus. i don't think it's reasonable that they would, nor would they tell every nyc cong to leave too. i just don't think they concern themselves with self-preservation...just the ministry

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

no one said self preservation, but it a preservation of operation in this country. their continued operation IS part of their ministry. If you've ever read the yearbooks there are many experiences of operations being moved around and hidden and stuff in times of war or persecution. Maybe all those in the lead would not actually move, but it's not inconceivable that they would move operations if they felt that was in danger of being disrupted. I doubt they would ever tell all the NY congs to leave-no one said that. It would just cause massive panic. Not saying it will happen, but it's not impossible as shown by the way they moved more operations upstate. But whatever they do, I'm sure it will be backed by Jehovah.

good points...ur right
