It's Not As Far As You'd Think
Ok, so for the first time ever, I went to Staten Island last night...My friend and I went for a drive, and I crossed a bridge (I really don't know what it was called, except it had cement walls and you couldn't see the water. I strained my neck to look over and I saw like, big refineries. I guess I wasn't missing a lot.)
So I drive over this bridge...listening to "Dynamic Syncopation", and I look at my friend I'm riding with, and scream at him that if he farted in my car he should be at least be polite enough to excuse himself when he said..."dude...that's the island." He was right, I rolled up the windows and put on the re-circulating button, life improved dramatically in the next 2.3 seconds following that event.
We go to his friend's house, taking some sort of road that can only be described as an LIE service road clone. It's the kind of thing that makes you want to leave some trash as part of your contribution to society.
The night was eventful, to say the least...I'm sure those people speak English but it was like some odd variation. The whole island was last paved in 1922, so the roads are rather pot-hole riden...our chauffeur for the night hit one that was probably deeper than my pool, and a hubcap decided that was most beneficial to remove itself from the situation. We turned around to go get it, and found 10 in the same spot, all brand new. Toyota, Ford, whatever you wanted. (No Integra ones, though.) If you ever need a factory hubcap, head to this spot. Definitely.
So I survived, I felt like I visited a foreign country, and it only cost $6.00. I saw an island I'd only heard about, but could never figure out where it was located, and I was home by 12:30.

i would just like to say that dan's stories are always the best. theyre worded in such a way that just keeps you wanting more, i actually read this one to my mom and she was laughing the whole time. props to you dan.
thanks!!! if my stories are...different, it's because I took a writing class in college, and the professor challenged me SOO much. He made me work SO stinkin hard, always making me re-write papers, re=phrasing to make things sound more interesting. Sometime I'll tell you the best thing he told me.

i honestly have no idea. there was one in paramus, i thought. but it burned in a tragic accident involving some witches and a few too many broomsticks.
There is one across from the Willowbrook mall. I like to call it Christmas in a Restaurant because of all the pretty lights.
