you gotta make sure "File and Printer Sharing" is enabled on both machines. Then make sure you're firewall is allowing NetBIOS/NetBui since this is the protocol that Microsoft uses to communicate. A lot of firewalls deny this so that hackers can't see you're shared folders (this is really easy to do, especially if you don't have them password protected).

I had this problem, and that was my solution (to fix the firewall)

you might also have to enable "Client for Microsoft Networks"

a) no firewall

b) NetBEUI not used. (tcp/ip)

is file & print sharing turned on on the win98 box?

is the printer Shared?

do you have Client for Microsoft Networks installed on both machines?

is NetBIOS enabled?

I think I covered all that guy.

oh, yeah, you did. except making sure that printer is actually Shared

deanh77 #3.1.1.1 deanh77Founder

haha. ok. I just thought maybe everyone was maybe ignoring me.

yes, yes, yes, hmmm...enabled where? tcp/ip not enough?

iwz #3.2.1 iwz

i believe it's a checkbox in the tcp/ip settings. it just helps windows find other windows machines over a tcp/ip network. oh, can you see the win98 in network neighborhood on the 2k box?

i'll check that out...and 'no'
