A snapshot of our lives
The content on this site is so raw. It was how we were in those days, on the internet, and before Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, even MySpace. We connected to eZabel with 56k modems on the family PC, and from work or school computers. There was no iPhone. Things on the 'net didn't seem so permanent, or scary. This whole site was open to the world (and our moms, and the congregation).
We've learned a lot since the early days. It's not always so safe on-line. And we don't always know who we're talking to. This became apparent even in the waning days of eZabel. There were some weird shenanigans that went down. I was only reminded of these things while working on this rebuild. There was eventually a crisis of conscience, a bit of a reckoning, eZabel/redsweater went private, and everyone left.
So, what we have here is a time capsule. It's amazing to look at what's here. What we all built in just a few short years, really, and what lasted for longer. There are still marriages and deep friendships that continue, long after the site that brought us together faded away. Most of us are still in the truth.
If you take a look around the site, you may spend some time reminiscing, even longing for the past a bit. I know I have. I miss all of you! I miss the little community we had here, and the craziness that it brought. There was so much passion! Facebook/Instagram/TikTok... those really ain't it. It's not the same. But, it's been 26 years since eZabel came to life. We're all 20-26 years older. So, our little cohort is pushing 40, 45, even 50. Ha! I still think of us all as the kids that we were. The challenges that we struggled with back then... some are still with us today, and we've most likely taken on many new challenges, too. Well, maybe you can take bit of a walk down memory lane and laugh at the things we did. Hopefully!
Thanks for stopping by. Take a bit of time to look around, and say hello.

iwz, I truly want to thank you for restoring all of this for us. It feels like a time capsule, but even more than that, a glimpse into the mindset and emotions of our younger selves.
I don’t think I ever fully appreciated this community or what it meant to me. Over the last few days, spending hours reading through old messages, posts, and pictures, I’ve laughed, cried, and had more than a few “Wow, Mike... you idiot” moments.
More than anything, it’s made me appreciate how much I’ve changed, the friendships I still have, the ones I don’t, and the impact all of it had on my life.
One of my favorite parts of revisiting this has been seeing how much music shaped this place. A lot of the bands I discovered through eZabel and through everyone’s posts are still some of my favorite bands today...
Thank you to everyone who helped make this site what it was. I love you all... even the ones who dealt with Rock Supastar drunk off eZabel mod power. Yes, I know and I am sorry...
dawwwwwwww, mikeyjoe! you big sappy idiot!
