Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio?

Thats a good question, i just wonder how you came up with something that thought provoking....

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

maybe...just MAYBE, because it's eaier to concentrate when there are less distractions? just a thought.

I agree, and logic follows that if you always drive without music playing, you are a better driver! Also, if you listen to AM all news channel, you will be a FAR superior driver.

i don't know about the "not listening to music" thing will make you a better driver, it all depends on the person in my opinion;

but i know a lot of drivers that are just plain out horrible drivers with or without the radio. i agree with matt though it could be

for concentration purposes; but sometimes if i am at someones house i don't know(or someone's house where you DON'T want to piss off the rents) i turn down the radio ahead of time just to be respectful to the parents and neighbors; not that i'm listening to bad music or anything just the load thing....

Good question though. . . .

Hey, who's this "monamour" person. This is definately not someone from NJ. Notice the term "rents"....as in Pa'rents'. That's not Jersey style at all. Also notice how "monamour" says "plain out" instead of "flat out" or "straight up" or even just "plain". Who are you, and are you from Pennsylvania?

Peace

I say your best guess would be a little more west. PA or ohio. am i right?

Hey I totally "flat out"(translation: 'Jersey style') agree with Ian, Music defintely makes driving more fun

you kinda flow with the road and car. and defintely helps from becoming bored.

Expecially on LONG rides or slow traffic! I mean they wouldn't have even put radios in cars if they were that bad of a distraction. I figure if you can't concentrate with

the radio on. . you must not be that great of a driver. Have you ever driven in

the City?? All the traffic, horns blowing, workers making noise, that's "plain out"

more distracting than a radio. can you concentrate with that? I guess it all depends

on the driver,right?

Oh yeah "ya'll" I'm NOT from PA and I'm defintely NOT from Ohio, there

all cool places, but keep guessing until then I'll remain Nameless.

But i Do know who you two are...Matt....Todd ...=)

As the Musing 2651 put it so well..

"..the power of knowing something that someone else doesn't know is so invigorating"

SO TRUE!!!!

Very true statement about driving with no music. I remember when Jonathan wanted to "fix" my radio (thus leaving me with none - lol), I was driving at my best!

sorry guys, i gotta chime in here. i drive best when i have some pumping rhythmic beats playing in the cd/mp3 player, like techno. i get like ... "in the groove" sorta, and become more in tune with the car, and the road. i find things like AM and talk tadio distracting because i concentrate on them too much, and AM gets really distracting when you get static. i end up fussing with the radio more than driving. i guess you could make the argument that i would probably drive just as good with the radio off, but hey- that's a lot more boring, especially in rush hour traffic or 330 mile treks across pennsylvania.

btw, Ian what does this "parent" link do?

katiedid katiedidFounder
