Decisions, Decisions.....

So, once again the time of year when our summer fun comes to an end is upon us. Sad as it may be, it's also an exciting time for many of us. Lots of opportunities present themselves during these fall days which, like all things, make the decision-making-process even more difficult. Personally, I battled with the decision of whether of not to go back to school, only to learn that the endless process of selecting a major has gotten even harder. Now there's not only the need for a major, but a required focus. The possibilities are endless.....

Some have decided to Pioneer while others are currently debating which career path to follow. It seems like lots of people have re-entered the job market this summer which, from personal experience, can be very over-whelming. While no one wants a job that's boring and long hours are always a turn off, who actually knows what they really want to do? There's always a million entry-level positions that offer little more than minimum wage and a half hour break. Few of us actually have what would be considered REAL jobs that remotely present a challange.

Without getting hooked-up by someone in the company, how do we get these decent-paying, interesting, flexible hour-ed jobs? That's a mystery... Before even trying to find one we need to first decide what field interests us, once again bringing us back to the ever dreaded "decision-making." We want a field with upward mobility, availability, and nights and weekends off (half-day Fridays are always a plus)!

The question is, do these places even exist? It seems like the way to get to these fantasy places is through some sort of schooling (which i say with a reluctant tone. It took me awhile to agree with that statement). I felt, for the first time in the four years since I graduated high school like I might actually get a job that I will somewhat enjoy. Of course, it won't be for a year or so, but it's in my future. Amazingly, I felt a little stress subside. I think that as I'm getting older my decisions are, finally, starting to be a little wiser and beneficial.

The other day I read some interesting facts regarding an alarmingly overwhelming amount of possibilities for what may seem like a simple decision...

586 shades of red lipstick

1878 four-year colleges in the US

135 kinds of toothpaste

56 brands of bottled water

1188 government-recognized occupations

It seems like no matter what we do, there's always something else to consdier. I hope everyone finds something interesting, challanging, and, really, just something you like to do, this fall. I wish the best for everyone returning to school, the job field or Pioneering this September! Hopefully all of your decisions prove to be rewarding!!

1 DN per person to enter :) what grandiose fun!!! we'd rock!!! could you imagine how great it would be.... next summer. this summer was just a preview

C
chikviciousOG 2001

hugs only one DN per person? i say 3 each..this way we're all covered. Just in case only one person shows up. See ya gotta think ahead

H

ooooooooh, the "c" is silent!

C
chikviciousOG 2001

hugs i had to think about that one for a minuite. If the "C" is silent that makes me "Hikvicious"...very very clever.... Viciously clever..right on..why are you hug4u? you should be vicious4u.

H
hugz4uFounder

i go for the more subtle, passive approach. unlike some of us... who tend to go for the cut-throat, over-aggressive approach :) you vicious, DN machine! **see, this shirt is Frank's**

iwz iwz

ok ok i give up. what does DN stand for, and what 'c' is silent?????

C
chikviciousOG 2001

ok so by now we know that the silent "C" means. But hugs should we share the hidden meaning of what bings us together as DN luvas??? It's up to you..i live in the sunny state now and don't have to deal with the public humiliation...you wonka vicious kanit

H
hugz4uFounder

the "c" is silent... billy madison.... rock... rok? remember?? anyway, as far as DN, there are certain things that girls share only with each other. we need to have that "one up" feeling over people. especially now that i know ian wants to know, it will remain a mystery forever. not that i think he really cares, but, i would like to think that i am better than ian, by about... hmmmmmmmmm... 10 pts sound good, pee? ;) and, chickipooh, i think this is one we should keep amongst the elite few.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder
