My New PC
Yesterday I finished work, only to find a UPS "attempted delivery - 3 boxes - Dell" notice. NOOOOOOO!!!!! The three days that I waited felt like an eternity, and I couldn't bear to wait till Monday. So, I called UPS and begged the woman to track it. Two calls later, I knew where it was....but only 25 minutes left till they closed.
I was so excited, and (no exageration), I BOUNCED out of the door in anticipation. I didn't even care if I could get the packages into my car...I just wanted them. When I said my name at the counter, the worker just laughed because they all knew how excited I was.
With the assistance of my parents, who arrived moments later, we successfully loaded everything into the two cars. They stopped for dinner, but I was too anxious. Instead I raced home only to realize that I "bounced" out without my house keys. NOOOOOOO!!! Shortly, my parents arrived and we carried the titanic boxes to my room. Mike came and set it up, and now I'm the proud owner of a respectable PC.
Ahhhh, can you feel it?

I know I'm pathetic : )
yea... i failed pretty bad though, i messed up on setting up the speakers, am am disgrace to computer nerds worldwide...
It's ok, mike. Fortunately, I know how to follow the diagrams - hehe. But seriously, thanks for your help. Oh yeah!...I installed WinRAR last night, and I got Adobe AfterEffects and GoLive installed, but I had problems when I got to Illustrator, so I stopped. Though, I was [slightly] impressed that I managed to get that far. haha.
well i REALLY AM impressed thats awesome! See you ARE a better computer nerd then me...
You and your new computer rock, KT. If you ever need someone to check on the DVD player when you're not around, I'm your girl. Thanks again for letting us hang out with you and test it last night, Don & I had a good time. My next selection for DVD: "10 Things I Hate About You." I watched it when I got home last night and it seems to get better every time I see it. :) Kudos, KT, kudos!
HAHAHAHAHA! thanks :)
what operating system does your new PC have?
shes got ME, they could have given her XP, but it was more.. Besides, XP SUCKS!!!
hahaha.... you've got it backwards! you never learn, do you mikey joe?
no man.. i hate BOTH XP AND ME, if i had it my way i would keep 98!!!!
you can't seriously like XP with the whole Product Activation debacle??
welp, between XP and ME, i'd choose XP. I currently use Win2K, and will not upgrade to XP for a while most likely, if ever, mainly because of the Product Activation. And that's only because I'm cheap. I would rather buy one copy of XP and be able to install it on all of my computers at home. This is really the only thing Activation prevents you from doing, and I don't blame Microsoft for trying to enforce their licensing. If you really plan on only installing it on one PC, you are allowed to change up to 6 pieces of hardware every 4 months before having to reactivate. That's not too bad really. Buy a new video card, sound card, and DVD-Rom drive one month, and then a Cd-burner, more RAM and a bigger hard drive the next month, and you're still good, so long as you wait two months before doing anything else.
my computer has been giving me lots of problems lately, just with buggy type stuff. right now i'm running a scandisk and tonight i'm gonna run a defrag, maybe that will help. i really want to install windows 2000 because i think that will take care of a bunch of the stuff. there's also other stuff going on, like its telling me there are all sorts of hardware conflicts, even though everything works most of the time. i'm just afraid to try to fix anything, because whenever i do that i end up causing even more problems. oh well...
you'd probably be pleasantly surprised how much better your computer would run if you installed win2k from scratch.
did you know that according to the Fair Use clause of copyright law, you are allowed to make a few copies of software for personal use. Basically Microsoft is breaking this law by not allowing you to do this. but anyway....
"copies" as in backups, not as in copies on other computers used by the multiple people at the same time.
actually, the upgrade is FREE. confused again, mike? ;)
