The POWER of Atari

Last night... last night...

So, last night was another one of my "dinner and movie and video game" nights. Have a few friends, watch a movie (It was Ferris Bueller last night) and gather 'round the telly to play some games. The GameCube was humming along with four player Godzilla, when at around 10:00 someone suggested "Hey, let's play Warlords!"

Then it happened... like it always does...

I hook up my old Atari VCS (Later known as the 2600, but this was a pre-2600 variation) to the TV and there was 4 player Warlord goodness going on. It never ceases to amaze me how the Atari can captivate people of all ages. I mean, this is a system, as of this writing, that's hitting it's 26th birthday. Four colors, monophonic sound of bleeps and blips and just about everyone in the room had to play.

Comments I heard were "Man, that game is too cool..." "Forget that Godzilla game, this one is better..." "What awesome gamplay..." "Hey, pause the game/There's no pause button..." These were comments, by the way, from people who either never saw an Atari or were born well after it's heyday!

So we never got to play Marvel Vs Capcom 2 or any of the other games (Besides Godzilla) for the 128-bit systems... it boiled down to an old 8-bit game that captivated everyone til about 1:30 am...

It was the power of Atari!

I love my Atari and would choose it over any game system any day (to me it is easier and has more interesting games). My older sister gets to keep our atari because we have the N64 which I think is a totally unfair deal.

when i saw warlords for the pc, i just shook my head. i remember how fun it was with those dial paddles... but now they've made it too complicated.

Yeah, I read that as soon as I got it in the mail.. such a good issue.... I like how the brothers address specific games as being unsuitable for Christians...
