The State of Things

ekulu by ekulu · Nov 25, 2002 · Article · 97 views

In the early 90's, South Central Los Angeles used to be the place that nobody would visit. From the riots that devasted a unified city to the vicious gang wars that claimed many lives, Los Angeles was riddled with violence and unrest. But over time the problems had cooled down and everyone was starting to feel safe again. But lately, things have been changing.

There has been a killing everyday this week in this area of Los Angeles which makes the running death toll over 20 in this sudden wave of murders. Also, the long hiatus of gang related vilonce and murders has ended with a new period of drive by shootings and senseless killing of innocent victims.

Even the schools here are in a degraded condition. A news story recently exposed the rampant drug business, gambling and prostitution practiced out in the open at this school. For a while it may have seemed that things were getting better. But it is clear that the state of things is simply getting worse.

ok this isn't appropriate for this thread....but you know what really made me laugh...when there was that D.C. shooter and they told everyone to walk zig-zag to avoid being shot....haha...a little humor to defuse a horrible situation...sorry, ekulu. it's scary to live close to where stuff like that happens.

Sounds like a news report of any large city... we hear similar stuff happening in New York and surrounding cities, too. Increase of lawlessness!
