Gunman scare was a false alarm!!
I remember last week some of you made a few comments about a high school being closed down in Morris County because there was a gunman in the school. Well, I'm sure we were all relieved to know that this was a false alarm.
Here's the story, as recounted by the Star Ledger of January 10th :
"A road-rage incident led to the shutdown yesterday of a Morris County high school, which was stormed by heavily armed police in Denville who thought an angry, shotgun-toting man might be hiding inside.
Instead, after locking down the Morris County School of Technology and sending students and staff scurrying to safety late yesterday morning, authorities found an unarmed teacher and no grounds for charges against either driver -- a Pennsylvania motorist and the teacher, who was on his way to work at the vocational school.
The two drivers met at the intersection of Routes 46 and 80, where the out-of-state motorist said he was cut off by the teacher, who apparently raised his hand and gestured at the other driver, police said. The Pennsylvanian flashed his lights, trying to stop the teacher as they traveled east on Route 46, and then followed the teacher's white van down Fox Hill Road, through Rainbow Lakes in Parsippany, Denville Police Sgt. Matthew Kazaba said.
At that point, about 11:30 a.m., the Pennsylvania driver encountered a Parsippany police patrol car, flagged it down, and informed them he was following a man he believed was wielding a shotgun, Kazaba said. Parsippany police caught up with the van as it entered the parking lot of the county school, prompting a call to Denville police.
"Without question, we had to treat this seriously," said Kazaba, who said police identified the vehicle, set up a quick perimeter around the school, and ordered officials to lock down the school.
Three officers from Denville were among the first to respond. Carrying rifles, they sprinted down the sidewalk along Route 53. Two of the officers stationed themselves on a knoll between the school and Route 53 while another continued to the back of the school. By 11:45 a.m., five officers with rifles surrounded the school. A short while later, a tactical unit entered Building Three, where they found the teacher's classroom in lockdown mode. He apparently was unaware he was the subject of the police action, police said.
Both drivers were questioned at Denville police headquarters. The Pennsylvania driver told police he believed the teacher waved a gun in the air, but there was no evidence of a gun or evidence the out- of-state driver made up the story, Kazaba said. Both were released and no charges were filed.
The veteran teacher, whose name was not released because he was not charged with a crime, declined comment. He was described by colleagues as mild mannered. "
HOW RIDICULOUS IS THIS???? Road rage leads to basically terrorizing a whole state. Crazy.

This is insanse. In my high school, they wouldn't have closed it down unless it was like 12 people with guns. The only consequence of one gun wielding idiot was that we weren't allowed lockers cuz one kid got shot in the keister....
HAHA, shot in the keister.... in other words the can? hahahahah
