Jar-Jar doesn't stand a chance.
The floppy-eared creature from the Star Wars prequels, widely reviled by fans, will be wookiee meat by the release of Star Wars Episode III, when George Lucas brings back the classic character Chewbacca and the original actors who played C-3PO and R2-D2 for the grand finale to his sci-fi franchise.
Suiting up as the hairy wookiee and the helpful droids are British actors Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. The gig should be old hat for the threesome, who are reprising the classic roles they originated in the first trilogy.
"I'm delighted to return as Chewbacca," said Mayhew in a statement on the official Star Wars Website. "I think his reappearance in this film is a fitting way to tie the whole saga together, especially for Wookiee fans."
Given that Chewbacca is 200 years old in the first Star Wars movie, he is more than old enough to fit into the prequel timeline.
Lucas' untitled sequel is slated to hit theaters May 25, 2005, on the 28th anniversary of the original Star Wars release. Currently in pre-production, the movie takes place a couple of years after Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
Daniels has squeezed into the golden Threepio suit to play the prim and proper protocol droid in all three of the original Star Wars movies. The actor then leant his voice to Episode I: Phantom Menace when the character was rendered by a puppet. Daniels returned to his golden roots in Clones, when he once again donned the skinny droid costume.
While Baker was essential to the part of R2-D2 in the original 1977 sci-fi classic (before motion controls and computer technology were able to match up to Lucas' high-concept creations), the role has become increasingly automated ever since. But Baker will slip into Artoo's shell for the sixth installment, as he has done at some point during every movie, bringing "an element of humanity" to the classic character, Lucas has said.

jose's famous!!!...i wonder...
who on earth is jose??
hose deleone (i think that's how you spell it). when he tries 2 make fun of people and make them look stupid instead of him; he does this voice where it sounds like chewbacca so i nicknamed him chewie and now nobody else calls him anything else but that.
Hose? As in garden hose? Jose.... eek
i know thats what vanessa always says but i like it the way i spell it and it don't matter any how cuz i don't call him by his real name, its chewie.
I can't wait until the next star wars is out... that way star wars will just die already!
No YOU ARE A DIE ALREADY!
sorry mike, that was the completely wrong time to use that comeback. now you're just digging for points.
he always was. what's different about this particular attempt, you ask? Not much.
hey ian... i dont need to dig for points, IM IN THE LEAD !!!!! WOHOOOOO Rock Supastar ROCKS YOUR WORLD!
Matt, you're still upset you didn't get the rold of Anakin on Ep 2...
hayden christensen is hotttt
i'm bracing myself for the comparisons again once the next movie comes out.
pretty kewl...i hope they don't find an excuse to have jar-jar, tho
Maybe Chewbacca will be so annoyed with him that he'll do away with him...
i was so mad how they made everything his fault. stop blaming jar jar. jerk George Lucas. (if you've read any of the books, you know what i'm talking about. maybe you don't even have had to read them. i can't 'member.
i've only read the original trilogy
It's weird. I have like a million star wars books and my Empire and Return of the JEdi books are one's made from the screen play but my New Hope is written before the movies so it's really cool to see the difference.
i don't get it...how did u get that?
wait wait, there were no star wars books written before the movies, i thought. weren't all of them based on the movies?
The books that the movies are based off of? I don't really know..I gotta look at it again (cause I haven't touched it in years) I could be wrong but it's defiently way off in some aspects from the movie
from a star wars faq:
Q: Where can I find the novels for all the Star Wars episodes 1-9?
Was A New Hope a book before it was a film?
A: None of the films
are based on books. Here's basically what happened: George Lucas came up with
ascript for Star Wars. Unfortunately, it was too long, so he broke it up into
multiple films. Lucas decided to make the middle episode, A New Hope, the first
(and possibly only) film. As they were making the film, they wanted to generate
early buzz for it, so the novelization was released 1 year before the film came
out. It was ghost written by Alan Dean Foster, author of Splinter of the Mind's
Eye. The movie then came out later, so everyone thought the film was based on
the book. The novelizations to ESB and ROTJ came later with those films. Since
Lucas plotted all of the films out at once, many people mistakenly believe the
books of the other novels are already out. They aren't. Many people also
mistakely believe that the films that might come AFTER Return of the Jedi are
the ones written by Timothy Zahn or the other authors. This is also not true.
Lucas has publicly said he doesn't want to make any sequel films that would
follow ROTJ. And if he did, it would not be based on any of the novels.
so, wow, you must have the novelization that was released 1 year before A New Hope! cool!
Yeah that definetly must be it. It's really cool and all, sticking pretty much to the story line of course save for a few deviations which make it really interesting to read
good find. i had a teacher in 1982 (that's before ROTJ, right?) who told me about the clone wars, that the storm troopers were clones, and that anakin fights obi-wan and falls into the lava pits (hence the major respiratory equipment). i wonder where he got that info from.
well the fact of anakin falling into lava is in the ROTJ book, i have the 10th anniversary edition i picked up at MGM when I was younger, obi wan tells luke that's what happened to his father when they were talking on Degobah (wow i love star wars intricises...however you spell it)
chewi rocks the house, who knows mabey they may show some jedi wookie
action!!!
man. stef still has this screen name hostage. it's been a long standoff, obviously. ian, can you fix this?
wasn't there a jedi wookie (or is it: wookie jedi?)
i thought that wookies couldn't be jedi. it has something to do with their planet and their already higher ability skills. i'm not 100% sure but i don't think they are. anyone disagree?
if i remember correctly, and i may be wayyy off, Chewie was a slave for the Empire, Han Solo saved him and Chewie has a life-debt to Han. Y'know, always being there for him and fixing the falcon and such. i don't know how that could be in the movie though, because they'd have to find a dude who looks like a young Harrison Ford and that'd be cheesy! Unless Harrison does the movie and gets CGI make up done! or they have chewie in a cameo-type thign minus Han Solo. I don't know. the new flick better be like 3 hour long or so. they've got a lot of story to cover, three sequels to set up.
i still havent seen episode 2.. sad i know
Is the guy who plays r2d2 a midget? He has to be
