Midsummer Swing

beachbum by beachbum · Jun 11, 2003 · Article · 345 views

Who needs dark, smelly Irving Plaza? Swing dancing outside on a warm summer night is the best! Even better is that it is free (if you dance outside the platform) and you can do all the tricks and ariels you want without getting yelled at. Here are the schedules for swing dancing in Central Park and Lincoln Center for whoever is interested.

Central Park

Sundays

June 15 Walter Hawkes Trio (Opening Date), 22, 29

July 13

August 3, 17, 24 (pending)

September 28

October 5

Central Park Swings

Lincoln Center

It starts the end of June but the schedule is too long to post so here is the link

hey, just remember that lincoln center swing was where andrew was "discovered" by GQ.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

hahahaha... did they ever call him back after that? i'm surprised all the glamour mags didn't start a bidding war for his services

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

haha, i know. but sadly, after the article was published and his pic was the page after the half naked woman in white and our PO heard of it and then the whole thing w/ the bethelites, he decided to retire from his new career. he could've been big and I could've had his millions!

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

he was suppose to sign my copy. but never did. anyway that was funny.. i was reading mine.. then. i see his picutre.. just took a quick glimpse.. then flipped back 2 pages..

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

yeah, quick glimpse...good one. so then why do you have the picture under your pillow and kiss it every night before bed, hmmm?

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

hmm i dont know what you're talking about. leave me alone you freak. before i marry your mom. become your dad. and beat you

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

you'll have to fight micah, he has dibs on my mom

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

ha ! fight? please. i'm not a fighter. i'm a lover. i'll let her open her eyes , realize the true prize, and pick the guy.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

that one kid is so flexing

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

haha-you're right. i don't like that kid-he totally thinks he's the stuff and he's not. good swing dancer though.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

is that jake the quake?? what ever happened to him...that guy was slick...he would dance with girls at irving and then give them his business card...that guy was my hero

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

hahaha-um, no. i never met "the quake"-the kid i was referring to is Arthur. I don't remember the other guys' names.

malibu malibuOG 2001

i like the flexing guy with the hat.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

irving plaza doesn't smell!!! it does, however, charge approx. $46 for a drink.

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003

we can do it every other sunday for $9 instead of $13....

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

actually if you are a student it makes it cheaper!!

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

malibu malibuOG 2001

how can you even dance swing without a partner?

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

what's his name on swing kids rocked out at the end w/o a partner. just go all out like you don't even care.

ekulu ekuluOG 2002

yea but he just looked like a weirdo tho

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

WHAT!? Peter did NOT look like a weirdo. That's one of my favorite parts because he looks sooo amazing and it's so emotional

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

i know-i love peter-he can dance however he wants and i'll still love him. just so happens he's an awesome dancer and he could pull it off.

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

malibu malibuOG 2001

punkprincess punkprincessOG 2001

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003

i used to wokr a couple blocks from there. The chelsea brewery is great....

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Are you trying to encourage underage drinking?

ekulu ekuluOG 2002

when i was in new york we passed by that place. also i was seeing all the signs for places like hackettstown and stanhope. wierd to see em in real life.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

That is really weird cause they don't exist. It's all been one big lie. You know how much trouble we all had to go through to make those signs and get them on the highway?

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

HAHAHAHHAHAH THAT IS SOOO FUNNY!!

ekulu where on earth were you that you saw signs for stanhope...you had to be on 80?? why would you be there? lost from manhatan?
